Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video and photo editing, and playing games along the lines of COD Warzone, the finals, fortnite, and the spiderman series.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 

Already has a 4tb 7200rpm HDD, not sure if that's worth putting in or he should keep it.

I believe the motherboard supports bios flashing without a cpu, he has a laptop and usb 3.0 stick so I told him I'll show him how to flash it assuming it doesn't come with an updated bios.

$100 for a  1TB SSD, he better be in Canada.

 

I'd drop the motherboard down to the Gigabyte, will be just as stout but I prefer Gigabyte.  2TB SSD as games are getting way too big.  Better PSU I think, but others can chime in.   Case is.... yeah.

 

If he keeps the 4TB Rust Thing, he needs to install Windows with ONLY the SSD in the machine.  Windows has and will put files on the HDD, slowing boot and making it so you can't remove the HDD later without reinstalling Windows.

That 7900XT costed $100 less and is also a faster card by a little bit, id switch that back in and use the extra money to buy the 5800X3D.

Also the SSD is not a good value so I changed that too.

B550 for $170 is horrible, equivalent am5 boards are the same money

 either 1080p or 1440p he has dual monitors. Why they're different resolution's ill never understand but at least their the same size. Both 24".

1st one (except for gpu's I changed it to nvidia because I showed him performance-quality ratio with upscaling fsr vs dlss and also rtx performance and he switched real quick)
