transistor broke while unboxing

Looks like C749 was never fitted, but C741 and C719 above have been ripped off.

But yeah, RMA.

Hi,

So I am taking out my new amd 6400 gpu (2nd gpu, as main and have 6800xt for windows). And the transister falls into my hand, and no, I didnt drop it. It just fell. Now, I don't know how important it is. I tried looking it up. it say a power transistor. But I am not sure if it is fine (source: https://www.web-bcs.com/transistor/tc/c0/C749.php). Should I send it back to Amazon?

I really am not sure.

Thanks
J

It's not a transistor, it's a capacitor.  C749 is C for capacitor, 749 just happens to be the number of  the capacitor in the circuit.  You're linking to what is probably 2SC749 , a component with 3 pins.

You can use a soldering iron to heat up that solder and re-solder the capacitor back in place... or a hot air gun... go to a place that fixes phones and ask them to fix it for you for $10-20 tip, it's a 5 minute job.

It is a capacitor. Often used for power smoothing, but has many other uses too. C749 is the placement on the board, not the model of the device itself.

Can you take a better photo of the pad it came off without it in the way? I can't tell from the existing photo but it could be bad soldering and therefore a manufacturing defect.

It's brand new and defective out of the box. Don't attempt to repair it yourself, open an RMA.

If you unsuccessfully attempt to fix it, they could deny warranty coverage because "you modified it".

EDIT: Yup, the loose cap is probably either C741 or C719. RMA.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
