Apple Kills Facebook’s Internal Apps on iOS

Facebook has been found to be breaking Apple’s terms of service for Apple’s Enterprise service. Looks like Facebook was using the special certificate privileges from Apple’s Enterprise distribution package to install tracking software onto customers iPhones. Apple revoked the certificate which killed all of Facebook’s internal apps for iOS.

I would say that it's a good reason to be wary of your kids activity on smart phones. Apple did the right thing revoking Facebook's certificate, but I would be curious if there is a similar vulnerability on Android devices...

Am I the only one that understands that Facebook asked people, most of whom where adults, if they could do it, required them to sign a contract, and download a new app, and on top of that paid them?

Today, they are paying, tomorrow they are just doing it to everyone and keeping it quiet. Because you damn well know that's how Facebook rolls.

No, we don't know that. To date, there hasn't been a single incident in which Facebook was knowingly handing over users information that the users didn't give them permission to use.

Facebook sidesteps the App Store and rewards teenagers and adults to download the Research app and give it root access to network traffic in what may be a violation of Apple policy so the social network can decrypt and analyze their phone activity, a TechCrunch investigation confirms.

Shady stuff, particularly that they're trying to avoid the jurisdictions imposed by the App Store.
