idk, sounds a bit like more things devs will have to implement to make their games preform well on Vega but only benchmakrs will tell. hope we can get about 1080 preformance at a bit lower price and a new NANO

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

I would wait, but the cards will be too expensive for me to afford anyways. Gonna snag a Fury on Newegg :)

I used to be quite active here.

I just wish AMD would release Vega as a top-to-bottom stack instead of a single GPU here and there. They need a complete line-up of modern graphics cards.

When you get a chance, you should watch the video, and then provide a basic summary of it.

So far, nothing too exciting. The first 6 minutes were just marketing crap and graphs about trends. About 10 minutes in, they show the HBC (High Bandwidth Cache) comparison using Deus Ex Mankind Divided (Same thing they showed off during the old Vega conference).

Now he's talking about general tech inside the chip, programmable pipeline, HBC, etc.

No hard specs or prices or performance figures.

Welp. Finished the video. Not a whole lot there.

You know who wishes that too, I bet? AMD.

You know who doesn't have enough money to do that? AMD.

There's a reason they're staggering releases. They're very low on liquid cash, and they have to manage it carefully. Especially since for the last 4+ years, they've been dumping almost all their reserve cash into Zen R&D.

Assuming Ryzen 3 and 5 sell well, and VEGA isn't terrible, we should start to see AMD doing larger releases in the next year or two.

See my post for a VERY VERY BASIC tl;dr. It's not comprehensive though, and I didn't bother listing all the tech they talked about, nor the results or implications.

Don't expect a launch earlier than Computex, which is May 30th to June 3rd, I believe.

While that's still pretty soon (Only 2 months away), it's still far enough away for many people to be unable to wait.

I'm on the fence, fancy a new GPU to get ME-A maxed out on ultra settings, and carry me on for a good few years.  Was toying with another XFX R9 390 DD 8GB to Crossfire my existing setup, but considering Vega is around the corner has me second guessing.

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

Mac - 1.4ghz i5, 4GB DDR3 1600mhz, Intel HD 5000.  x2

Endlessly wishing for a BBQ in space.

It was a tech preview for industry people. Something along the lines of "this is stuff you can use to do things with your software". Not an end-customer preview where they say "this gets a bazillion fps in some games and costs half the price of the competition".

Sure. But there's still not really any new info here. Everything they talked about, they already talked about during the other VEGA conference.

They may as well have just played the stream VOD of the last one for those in attendance. They would have learned the same things.

Making NVIDIA continue to improve is good but I hope Vega doesn't compete too well with it.

I'm strongly considering getting a 1080 ti once I start seeing non-reference versions so I'd be annoyed if Vega made getting a 1080 ti somewhat pointless.  ?

I'm thinking I'd look at EVGA most likely for a 1080 ti.  I'm rather curious to see hoe their new ICX cooler design works since I'd heard Gigabyte 10 series GPU coolers are supposedly louder than other brands.

So there hasn't been any idea how Vega will perform vs a 1070, 1080, or 1080 ti?
