"AMD Vega is launching soon" - Famous last words.

"HBM is 5x faster than GDDR5" - We know.

"VEGA is designed to be scalable architecture" - Ok.

"Mobile VEGA" - That was a pretty safe assumption.

"Allows VEGA to be implemented into notebooks and other mobile devices. Letting users continue to experience VR and enjoy AAA games." - Isn't this just the same thing as "Mobile VEGA"?

"AMD VEGA uses HBM2" - Ok.

"AMD RX VEGA will have 2 vram configurations. It will have 4GB HBM2 and 8GB HBM2" - That was a pretty safe assumption.

EDIT: I noticed VEGA is capitalised - could it be an acronym?

Gonna add another fury x to my rig. Then sell it on so i can get the new hotness. Maybe grab that rummoered 16c/32t ryzen.

Already dumped in 32gb ram.

Before you complain, itll be because i can, not because ill use it all.

Or you could find a dual socket AM4 motherboard when that happens although I'm not too well versed between dual socket cpus.

Whether a single 8 core will perform better than dual 4 core.

I'm not buying RX Vega so I really don't care, but I'm curious to see as how mobile Vega will turn out, seeing as Alienware has an RX 470 option for their notebook line..I assume it'll be an option for 1080 equipped notebooks?

HBM2.0 can't come  soon enough but the developers would have to be on board with utilizing the technology on their releases.

Did you mean HDMI 2.0 or 2.1?

2.0 has been here since 2013 with the latest iteration, being 2.0b, being released only last year, March 2016.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

No he meant what he said, HBM2.0 - the second revision of HBM ("High bandwidth Memory"). The next generation version of what the Fury and Fury X had.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

iPhone Xr 128 GB Product Red - HP Spectre x360 13" (i5 - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD) - HP ZBook 15v G5 15" (i7-8850H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P600)

Wait, wasnt it supposed to be 8x faster at 58k?

Hard to say, I don't think that anyone tested it yet on that resolution.

Huge VEGA leak.... VEGA ALMOST 2x FASTER THAN 1080ti!

58fc6d3718f2e_Snmka.PNG.0cd76cd40d0c937ef83fdafc50d4f127.PNG

nice.

Notice also that vega has 56% less variance between average fps and max fps, compared to 1080ti. I.e. More consistent frames and more smoothness at 32k maxed out.

Ok all joking aside now...

I hope that when reviewing Vega people test it on both Intel as well as AMD Ryzen platforms. Will be interesting. Just to see how AMD's well optimized graphics drivers paired with a modern high end GPU do on Ryzen CPUs.

You will find some games in which Nvidia's driver runs on a suboptimal manner on Ryzen because it has been specifically tuned for Intel CPUs and not yet for AMD Ryzen. Folks like AdoredTV and Nerdtechgasm on youtube have proved it.

This is not a game which is usually tested but check out the Rocket League benchmarks below from anandtech. Swapping out the GTX 1080 for a weaker R9 Fury increased the performance on Ryzen because of how AMD's graphics driver got the best out of Ryzen.

If you are interested in the reasons why watch below without skipping.... I found it fascinating.
