Creator of Debian threatens suicide over police brutality

Ian Murdock, creator of Debian went on a disturbing rant about an encounter he had with the police on the 28th of December.

His twitter was deleted yesterday, some believe his account may have been hacked or that he was intoxicated, however he said that he would post his experiences on his personal blog before killing himself, such a blog post has yet to surface. There has not been any other news from him since.

I'll write more on my blog later. But the police here beat me up for knowing on my neighbor's door.. they sent me to the hospital.

Then beat me up some more.

My bail for "assault against a police officer" are all that: $25,000.

I'll write more much later. They still don't have cameras on all police so I'm going to use my somewhat celebrity to hopefully stop this.

they beat the shit out of me twice, then charged me $25,000 to get out of jail for battery against THEM

i had to go to the hospital

they followed me home

then they pulled me out of my house and did it again

i had to have swtitches

then followed my home from there

i asked if they had cameras

they said no

shall i post pictures for all my bruises from my against the police officers?

where they put you in a cell with absolutely no instructions whatever aside from the spell on the floor in piss?

Writing up my experience for others to hopefully prevent others from police abuse then you won't hear from me again

i'm going to post my case on my blog.. if anyone can post it on hacker news or wherever i would apprieciate it

i'm hoping coming from a successful white guy it will help everyone

The police are uneducated, evil, and sadistic. Do not trust them.

The rest of my life is to fight against the police.. they are NOT friends, so don't ever ever believe otherwise.

What does one have to get education wise to become a police officer.. asking for a friend.

This was right after the female officer ripped off my underwear.. I guess that's not considered rape if you're not a woman being raped.

Is it a possibility this person is simply seeking attention?

 

He threatens suicide and then says that he's not gonna do it. Is he giving us suspense or something? I'm going to need to see evidence that the police did what he said they did.

He's saying that he's going to write up his experiences before killing himself, not that he won't kill himself. I'm assuming he'll put evidence up too.

I'd like to hear what the other side has to say about that. There are always two sides to every story. 

Also it sounds like his acc was hacked. 

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

He should have evidence and I'm not necessarily convinced of the police brutality or his suicide threats.

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

i smell 99% lies, if you were beaten by cops in a democratic country you could ask for medical inspection and sue the cops for a shit ton of money, he must have done something or resist arest or being mentally unstable and cause a drama scene
