Torrent site Kickass seized

Kickass Torrents has now been taken down via a domain name seizure. The site, which was already blocked from direct UK access as a result of high court blocking orders, now turns up an error message when users attempt to access its Somali .so domain. A look at its Whois record shows the site listed as banned. The Somali registry was seen as a safe haven for the site, away from copyright holders and their lawyers, but it appears the takedown was a result of a claim. Several other sites with a .so domain, including the unaffiliated scam site kickasstorrents.so, have also been taken down, which indicates a far-reaching block on any URL with "kickass" in it that is based in the country.

 

Edit: Well it looks like just the .so was taken down but not the .to So we are still good

They switched the domain back to kickass.to.

 

 

This will be about as successful as the when they took down TPB, a couple of weeks and it'll be back.

Big difference. This is domain seizure, fixable with a new domain. TPB's takedown was a seizure of the servers hosting it.

thanks god action was taken before hand. downloading shows for a friend since his internet is way too slow.

Because iTunes doesn't give you FLAC. And Netflix doesn't have everything.

And a 13-year old can't pay €500 to edit pictures.

Not everyone has an excess of money. Professionals do, hobbyists don't.

 

 

Apple has ALAC which is just a non-free lossless format like FLAC

Which is also proprietary.

I like torrenting because it gives me a chance to mess with the full version of software/games like a trial/demo so I can see if its worth spending my hard earned money on it. That's all I use it for.

Hobbyists don't need to spend 2500 on the Master Collection of Adobe products. Hobbyists can surely afford the 10 dollars a month to get Photoshop and Lightroom alone. Pirates who pirate software like that are running out of excuses and fail to admit that they are dicks who think its okay to steal software, plain and simple.
