I hope you don't really rely on this box keeping something safe from thieves, since it is easy to carry away and also shockingly easy to open if it is one of the cheaper units.

Christmas came early again. I picked up this from my mail service today.

IMG_0280.thumb.JPG.556b7cf6e2a781322a40e032c701d935.JPG

It's a self centering center punch. Similar to self centering drill bits (which I have a set of), it allows you make a center punch pretty in the exact center through an existing hole, such as when installing hinges. The self centering drill bits work fine but there are times when a hole in a size other than the ones I have the drills for are needed or it would be better to remove the item being screwed down before drilling the hole. This will take care of those needs. It's a Stanley but it didn't cost much and I won't use it heavily.

This also came in the mail today. It's a INCRA MAST-R-LIFT II router lift insert plate for router tables.

IMG_0293.thumb.JPG.bf2b1f3580a208b649e4f9977ba62d43.JPG

It's purpose is to easily and precisely raise and lower a router motor in a router table from the top of the table (my back is leaping for joy!) using the crank shown at the bottom of the picture. I will be building a router table this winter but I needed to get some critical dimensions for determining what kind of stand I'm going to use, modify, or make. This one of the best, if not the best, one out there. It has leveling screws around the perimeter of the plate that makes it easy to adjust the plate flush with the table from the top of the table (that also is making my back happy).

Those funny steel plates with the round holes in them at the bottom of the photo are inserts that go around a router bit (one is installed in the plate). They are secured with magnets and also can be leveled from the top of the plate to also keep my back happy (if my back isn't happy, nobody is happy).

Here are a couple of shots of the underside of the insert plate.

IMG_0296.thumb.JPG.8ee23e376f3242df9c6b91f1d4b8a483.JPG

IMG_0299.thumb.JPG.eddebd995ab2ed4038dc8e1ca207d70e.JPG

Ignore the unmade bed and all the packing materials in the background (I reused the packing to put the insert plate away until I need it now that I have the mesurements I need).

I'm a huge fan off hole saws and have good luck with the Lenox brand. I've been wanting a set of them so I pulled the trigger on this at my friendly, neighborhood Lowes.

IMG_0282.thumb.JPG.1815c72ce109633cf2e177a47c6bd37e.JPG

IMG_0288.thumb.JPG.a1fef054e25ced90c08acf6de3207843.JPG

It comes with 3/4", 7/8", 1-1/8", 1-3/8", 1-1/2", 1-3/4", 2", 2-1/4", 2-1/2" saws, a small and a large arbor and Allen wrench for replacing pilot bits (I often use a piece of 1/4" drill rod instead of a bit). The set did not include a 1" and a 1-1/4" saw. I already had a 1" saw (I also have a 7/8" saw) so I also bought a 1-1/4" saw to fill out the set.

I thought I could just nest the two added saws but it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I had to do a bunch of juggling around to get them crammed into the case.

IMG_0290.thumb.JPG.056411ac9cbd05d5a8f74bb783986d3e.JPG

I also have a smaller shanked small arbor (the one in the middle) and there was a slot for it so I put it in there as well.

IMG_0291.thumb.JPG.a645d11306fb6881636e8dc3d3cc8d62.JPG

I put some gaffer's tape in the top arbor slot to tighten the fit since the arbor kept falling out when moving the case around while closed up.

I also have a large Milwaukee arbor I use on my larger saws (4-1/2" Lenox and some garbage Morse) but it won't fit in this case.

Later, I made a JoAnn's run to pickup some E6000 adhesive (I've been running driving and waddling errands all day). E6000 is a clear, industrial adhesive that has become popular with hobbyists and crafters because it sticks like...well...like glue. It sticks so well, I rarely use all of a large tube because the cap eventually gets stuck on the tube. That is why I like the tiny tubes on the left.

IMG_0300.thumb.JPG.0e1763be2f912493369262c7444e08b2.JPG

Occasionally, I'll have a larger job and the mid sized tubes make more sense, which is why I bought the one in the center. The one on the right is a new one I haven't seen or used before. It's supposed to have no odor (the original E6000 has some pretty ferocious fumes) and can be used indoors or outdoors. We'll see.

Well, all the parts I'd gotten is coming together, only thing that worries me is the CPU temp. Either the Thermaltake AIO CPU cooler is faulty, or the software monitoring program is giving me weird readings. Temps would spike from 33C to 60+C at the lightest of operations, like enabling GPUZ, or installing software/programs....still I like what I'm seeing, other issue is cable management, but I'll figure that out later.

Nice. I want it too.  But my router (bosch 1200) wouldn't fit.

That's a nice looking router so it's a pity it won't fit but the router lift inserts require a router motor that can be removed from the base (or purchased as a router motor only). I'm going to eventually have two. Initially, I'll "borrow" the 2 1/4 HP motor from my Bosch 1617EVSPK combo until I make up my feeble mind between a 3 1/4 HP Porter Cable router motor or Jessem 3 1/4" router motor with remote power switch and speed control + DRO (Digital Read Out).

Budget permitting, you could always keep the 1200 for hand held use (like I eventually will with my 1617EVSPK) and get a more powerful motor only to use on a router table. You then get the best of both worlds: a handheld that isn't heavy and doesn't have enough torque to twist out of your hands and a router table with a motor powerful enough to handle almost anything you can throw at it and not twist out of your hands.

Nice but I'm afraid the neighbors would complain if I wore something like that while working outside (at my age and weight, I won't even wear dresses, skirts, and shorts anymore).

It's ok. But he don't have depth microadjustment, and this is his biggest flaw for me. So I would prefer to remove the spring and use him with a table eventually.

It is a pity that these types of router ( detachable motor style) are not very popular here.

I just had a "thunk". This will work with your router and just might be something you would like (it's also less expensive).

My tuner box came! Unfortunately, the 720p output has a green tint to it... but the 480p and 1080i outputs don't! Some screenshots from the device via Component output.

Well, couple weeks ago, I bought a Samsung Odyssey+ and discovered it needed AVX instructions to work. My trusty X5675....doesn't have those.

So, went and rage-bought new computer parts. It's kinda fun going to the store to build a PC and limiting yourself to only what is available in-store.

R5 3600, Asus X570 Strix Gaming E, 16GB 3600mhz, Corsair PSU / H115i, Fractal case, 970 Evo +, and 4tb spinning rust. Only part reused from old comp was the hybrid 1080ti.

I have own a few PCs and some of them are high powered...but I do keep an old 2008 MacBook Pro around...had to replace the charger as it failed...oddly Apple still sells the real deal. This household is equal opportunity with computers. This old girl actually manages the iDevices in the house handily...still is a nice laptop to use but definitely not daily driver material at 11 years old.

I had earlier gotten a 6TB WD Black HDD, and a 4TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD to finally complete my Ryzen build. The build was easy, and my system powered up on my first attempt. Either a Ryzen rig's easy to build, or I have gained godly skill after years of system building. ?

Ive done two ryzen builds now and both have been very painless, last one was a full custom loop and the only "problem" Ive had was coolant losing color and RGB not always working right, not exactly big urgent issues

Got some new bluetooth headphones for the office. After my previous two attempts (SteelSeries Arctis and AKG N700NC) both died in the right earcup after a few months, I decided to go a different route: bluetooth attachment for the famous ATH-M50X. This way if the bluetooth stuff dies, I still have a nice set of headphones instead of a paperweight.
