iPhone 11 rumors: 4,000mAh battery, 120Hz display, faster wireless charging, more

Sketchy new reports from Chinese website Weibo claim to offer up some interesting new tidbits regarding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 11. Most interesting is the possibility of a display with a higher refresh rate, similar to the 120Hz rate found on iPad Pro.

The report also calls for a larger, 4,000mAh battery on the Max model, with much faster 15W wireless charging also in tow.

When iPhone 8 and iPhone X launched with Qi wireless charging support, Apple initially only offered 5W as the maximum speed. Through a later iOS update and a capable Qi accessory, 7.5W charging was eventually possible.

However, if these sketchy rumors prove true, iPhone wireless charging rates will be the fastest on the market, surpassing the best offerings from Android. The possibility even remains of Apple repeating the cycle and boosting the max offering above 15W through a future iOS update.

As for the improved display refresh rate, the rumor specifies between “90-120Hz” rather than a surefire 120Hz, indicating Apple might have found a ‘sweet spot’ of sorts between improved refresh rates and battery life.

The rumor further corroborates reports of a triple camera setup on the back. This could mean Apple will house a wide angle, super-wide angle, and a 3X telephoto lens. The last mark is interesting, as Apple’s current telephoto lens defaults to a 2X zoom.

Previous iPhone 11 rumors have called for a smaller notch, an improved 10MP selfie camera, and of course, a widely improved 14MP triple camera rear setup. As for whether USB-C will finally make its way to iPhone or Lightning will last another year remains to be seen, however.

These claims should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism, like most iPhone rumors this early in the year. Nevertheless, the claims offer some conversational topics for the 2019 iPhones. What do you think we’ll see come September? Let us know in the comments down below!

It seems like Apple is stepping up the game! This is a rumor, so I will take it as a grain of salt until the final product goes live. One thing that surprise me is Apple finally put a big battery onto the IPhone. The 4000Mah battery with optimize IOS could make the phone last quite a long time. 120Hz display is also nice as well.

Once again, this rumor is come from a sketchy Chinese new site...............

Doubt they'll put a 4000mAh battery in there.

If history is any indication, it'll probably be slightly larger than the XS Max

There probably won't be a 4,000mAh battery even though Apple could easily fit more battery capacity into their phones, and kinda doubt the quick charging unless Apple sells their own wireless charger.

This is Apple. Getting 120fps is easy when settings are low and your application is league of legends.

I don't think either of these are going to happen. I don't think they will even make the notch much smaller. Probably also going to launch a $2000 because why not

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Not that I think it is likely... BUT if Apple really does want to keep pushing performance the way that they have been... They will NEED more battery. The A12 peak power draw is massively higher than the A11, and that is including a sizable node shrink. This generation won't have that same benefit, so it's likely that any increased performance will also come from increased power draw.

With all this stuff though, the device sounds pretty good with me. Apple last generation also was willing to increase their thickness when they needed to, so they might be turning that corner as well. Plus it seems like battery tech is finally starting to advance a bit (as noted by the Note 9 being able to fit everything else AND a 4000 mAH battery).

The wireless charging speed seems like the least likely thing, but it isn't that crazy either. Samsung's devices at least have been in the 12-15W range for fast charging wirelessly (still far less than the 24W peak wired).

Actually... the more that I think about this, the more likely that these rumors seem.

The top model will probably be named "XIS ULTRA MAX"

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

Sure under max load, but hardly anything you do on an iPhone will even make the A12 switch away from its low power cores.

Same camp here . It's great phone though, and I still get a day of battery life being the third user and it being used almost everyday for its whole life so far.

I think a bigger battery will be a big step toward people being more willing to.pay that much for a phone. A very comfortable two days with room for degradation would be great.

That's an F in the profile pic
