Experiences with non-techies

My parents think that HD is really bad, and refuse to upgrade to HD on our TV for $5 a month more.  Yet they've never seen HD through their TWO HDTV's.

I hate people who tune into the SD version of a channel and say "I can't tell the difference between this and HD"...

I should have said something but I just watched.

Great pixel dencity BTW, 240p projected on a large smart board.

About smart boards my teachers always say "oh theses are not very smart" when there is a computer or progector problem. And really they shuould be 16:9, they replicate what is on the teachers 16:9 screen so some things get messed up.

Another thing, all the projectors have dead pixels and they are all like 3 years old. One has at least 50, prob more.

Many projectors in my school are failing and now they display colours wrong, there is one that displays everything in a purple-ish shade, when the colours are balanced.

We have Macbook Pro's with a 2.4GHz i5's, and some really weird sub 1080p resolution, and Intel onboard graphics.  They work pretty good, except everything is looked down, like we can't even add and remove apps from the bar at the bottom  :(

That and it takes like 10 minutes to render 15 seconds of 1080p footage in After Effects / Premier (and then it's displayed with black bars)

In my schools PC's they blocked right clicking, getting properties of files is a pain.

i'm a potato

Right clicking is fundamental to the OS how do you block that?

At my grandparents house hd makes the image too big for the screen :/

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Several years ago my school district got cheap NEC projectors in all the classrooms. Most of them have failed and have been replaced with a newer and much better projector. (The NECs were hard to see with lights on.)

Last year we were presenting projects and the teacher had us turn off the projector while we were getting the presentation. (Not that pic mute thing that has the bulb on dim mode/idle. Fully turning it off.) By the end of the day the bulb was dead.

Some teachers shut the projector off when they leave their room and the next class uses the projector, and soon the bulb will die.

I always tell my teachers that if they are showing a movie to let the system warm up before they show it (<3 mins), and when they don't the class complains that they can't see the image.

I'll move to pipe 1 on your heatsink once I rob the LinusBank and get enough money to pack up and move. By the way, I still own pin 854, so I can move between both towns as I please. I use the CPU for that.

I'd check the screen mode (Zoom, Wide, Normal, Panorama, et cetera). It may be set to Zoom, cutting off the edges of the HD picture.

Just say IRK out loud, and you will know why I put it there.

This is why I just love my generation.

They think that what they can do makes them the top computer geek in the school. I've yet to own a person who thinks he is better than me but is stupid, but I want it to happen.

My generation:

[A Hypothetical Story]

Me: Do a hard reset on the computer.

Person: WHAT THE FUCK? Don't talk down to me. I am smarter than you.

Me: Okay. Force reboot the PC....

Person: *Does a power cycle on the monitor*

Me: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!

Me: YOU FUCKING THINK YOU ARE SMARTER THAN ME? YOU FUCKING POWER CYCLED THE GODDAMN MONITOR TO REBOOT THE PC! YOU DON'T DESERVE A PC IF YOU ARE THIS STUPID!

One time:

A: I have the best gaming PC in the world.

Me: Okay, specs?

A: It's an Alienware.

Me: *facepalm* What CPU?

A: What's a CPU?

Me: *kicks bus stop pole* How much RAM?

A: 16 RAM

Me: What unit?

A: Gigabyte

Me: What's the clock speed on the RAM?

A: IDK

Me: Say I hate Apple.

A: Apple is the best.

Me; I hate Mac OS. I want something complex.

*girl jumps in*

B: You are retarded.

Me: *Full rage mode activated* DONT FUCKING TALK DOWN TO ME! YOU THINK THE MAC IS SO GREAT HUH? WHERE IS THE REGISTRY EDITOR? DO I HAVE TO GET STUFF FROM SOME RETARDED COMPANY? WHAT CHIPSET DOES THE MAC USE? CAN I CUSTOMIZE IT? CAN I INSTALL A TITAN IN IT? DO I GET UPDATES FOR FREE? I DIDN'T THINK SO!

Wow, how can our generation be this stupid? They can tell the difference between a Converse All-Star and a Vans shoe, but they can't tell the difference between a CPU and a hard drive. A HARD DRIVE AND A CPU?? HOW IS THAT NOT DIFFERENT?? STUPID FAGGOT RETARDS DON'T SEE THE PHYSICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE TWO?? FUCK YOU GENERATION.

Believe it.

Our generation is so stupid that sometimes I want to crawl into a hole and die. They are that bad.

They go around like "Huurrr I made a YouTube video I am a genius" then I walk by discussing Z97 expectations (f*ck you Intel! Where is SATA express?), the Titan Z, if I should use the bathroom (WTF?), and then the other people look at me as if I am some strange, retarded person. I am just like (in my mind) "Fuck you! You think you know it all! I bet you don't know what the southbridge on a motherboard does."

Do you really need to know the difference between a SB and a NB?

Someone was complaining to me about their computer being slow, yet when I said they should go to the task manager and see if something is using up their RAM / CPU they told me it wasn't that big of a deal (and then continued to complain)

Do you really need to know the difference between a SB and a NB?

Yes I do (though I'm pretty sure a quick http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Southbridge&l=1 will easily let me figure it out)

You should take a trip to the chipset. I have been there my self and it is quite scenic.

The "tech guy" at my dads work had not upgraded to windows 7 (from xp) yet, and claims that microsoft will continue releasing important security updates to windows xp. It's like no dude, your network is going to be so fucking insecure within a few days. Plus most of their computers are p4's with 256-768mb ram and and igpu

I think a trip to the I/O will see the outer world.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget the time I almost sliced myself in half with the DVD drive laser. I was spinning 7200RPMs on that DVD and laser missed me by a smidgen. Phew.
