Experiences with non-techies

I have another one for you guys, was talking to an 18/yo UK girl on xbox and we were comparing xboxes when I asked her how many GB her hard drive was.

I told her that if her xbox was laying flat it should be on one of the sides and if it was vertical it should be on the top (hopefully not bottom).

She ended up picking the xbox up with internet cables and all still attached, and tilted her xbox around until she found it. Needless to say bad things happen when you tilt a CD/DVD player. Her brand new copy of COD Black ops or mw3 or whatever it was got completely wrecked. I can't rememebr if it was cracked or just really REALLY scratched.

My former friend's mother did something like that that with the said "former friend's" Xbox 360 when I was on a visit there, playing a game of mine which I've forgotten what it was. She (mother of the said "friend") was cleaning up and just without a warning lifted the console when it was on. Needless to say the disk got screwed up and they refused to replace that game.

This happened maybe 3 - 5 years ago, back when I still had Xbox 360.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

At my school in our engineering class, we work on Autodesk Inventor.  Well at the beginning of the period, one of the students couldn't get his computer to turn on.  He was like, I'm shaking the mouse and press spacebar trying to get it out of sleep mode and it won't work.  I press the power button on the case, it turns on, and he goes you're a genius! I then processed to resist a facepalm because if I did, I would have cracked my skull.

when a non techie sits in front of their computer, I think their IQ drops to 1.5

the problem is anyone under 24 (non techie) seems to think it's a magic box and of you opened one up it would have all your fils sitting inside etc. This means they don't apply any logic to stuff so don't know how to work stuff. I've seen that those who are good at logic and wordier maths problems that need logical thinking are better at using tech and understanding some parts of it.

The IT department at my school wont partition the school's computers hard drives because "It will make them crash and fry the computer"

lol That's a special kind of stupid. In that case, my netbook should have been a puddle a few years ago.

Yeah, with that logic we should stop using our monitors because it wears out the pixels

JUST wondering, how does a laptop work then?

The drives are designed to hold the disk in place that's why is always make a click as you put the disk in

The disks in a console are not held in place any where near as well so the easily move around if the console is moved thus scratching the disk to death

Yup sadly...

The one line that says "NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 graphics card with 4GB DDR3 dedicated memory will easily play the most demanding games currently available," scares me.... a lot.

My neighbor asked me why his Wii refused to load a game. I told him to bring me the disc.

So he disappears through the door and 3 minutes later returns with the disc, passes it over the fence, and the thing is scratched beyond repair.

I bought a similar system (asrock extreme 4, AMD fx8320, 1x8gb corsair xms3, gtx 660, zalman Z11 plus, corsair Cx600m) with no monitor or HDD and it cost me £500 which is only £20or so less than that system if you convert it from CAD to GBP so from someone in the UK that's a bloody good deal (I bought my parts from amazon). Shows how much we pay in shipping (though we're nearer to China) and taxes compared to you guys

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

I witnessed one of my old roommates ruin his fair share of games by moving his 360 around while a game was going. "What the hell's wrong with the internet, let me check the Ethernet in the ba...games toast"  "why's the router blinking like that, i'll just move this and...games toast".  It was good stuff lol.  I haven't touched an Xbone yet but I hope they implemented a better disk tray to address this issue.

I think XBones are slot-loaders now.

Wow, a GT 640. Even my GT 520 can beat that. No wait, even my 8800GTX Ultra can beat the crap out of it.

My dad reminded me today that he believes that all firewall communications must be blocked when he told me to make sure that nothing is allowed through my firewall. My response was something along the lines of "and break every single mp game I have... no thanks." Obviously I won't let some random program through but I won't inhibit programs that I trust from being able to communicate properly.

Don't be so fucking rude. My lord.

Sorry, I've been storing up my annoyance on those kinds of posts for too long. But I know that was too much now that I found out that terrytek is a 13 year old.
