Because YouTube is restricting the access of gun fans and demonetising their content . YouTubers that used to post their gun centric content on the site are moving their content to the venerable porn site. NPR on the controversial move.

...Because that is what a start up video streaming platform, operated and incorpated in Canada, and had enough trouble explaining to their payment processor that they wouldn't sell porn, needs to get into; Instructional content about firearms manufacture, modification, and the assembly of silencers...  What could possibly be flawed about that plan?

I agree with you , but it would be a guaranteed revenue stream for floatplane. It's not illegal it's just unsavory.

1) While not outright illegal, it's legally sticky and depending on the content uploaded, how it is used, it could potentially expose Floatplane to civil liability.

2) If it could piss off the payment processor, and processor's ARE finicky, Linus himself detailed the challenges in the most recent WAN show, and that processor opts to drop Floatplane, that 'guaranteed revenue' stream as you imagine it becomes 'A total loss of all revenue'.

LMG has mentioned in the past being very restrictive of what content they will be willing to host on their platform. Currently, they're limiting the scope to the tech field and have shown reluctance to expand it to other politically unbiased topics (ex. foodstuffs, cars, etc.), so I'd guess them hosting "radical" topics would be off for them.

They'd most likely need to incorporate another company and then license the tech over to that new entity.

 

This is just another step to a building backlash against an abusive & totalitarian political outlook that's an utter minority but has captured control of high-optic positions. Plus, need to be a lot of FTC complaints filed against YouTube.

I'm not even that into guns but I find a few channels interesting to watch. Since Youtube wants to ban channels that possibly promote firearms and accessory sales, there goes Youtubers like Hickok45 and some others sponsored by firearms stores.

And Youtube has a history of restricting channels and only restoring it if there is enough backlash. I could also see Youtube going even further, and take disassembly and the education on the inner workings of a firearm as " how to install or modify" so for example ForgottenWeapons/InRangeTV is also gone,but as mentioned he has Pornhub has backup, i'm hoping more follow with an alternate place to host videos.

Sport shooting= practicing to kill humans and Animals

Defense= Killing Humans whether justified or not.
