A gun is just a tool,should we ban videos with knives in them because someone can choose to use it as a destructive weapon?

I don't see how hunting is so offensive, it's what people do to sustain themselves and what everyone did before you could walk down to the supermarket to buy meat.

I'm glad guns are less of a fetish in Canada. I think people that have them should have proper training and you should have to go through hoops to get them, to screen out the nutjobs.

Maybe because knives are more useful in general and also less dangerous when used as a weapon?

Also range makes it easier to kill people than up close and personal. Thats why it is also easier for a person to kill people when operating a drone > firearms > knives > fists.

Edit: Also for the fact that it is way easier to get killed by a gun in an accident then with a knife.

Outside of basic trigger discipline, there is no proper training. Background checks don't work, again, when every organization with the authority to act doesn't.

In a civilian setting, guns are used in close quarters where a knife would be equally as effective. They, however, serve the disadvantages of being loud and only being effective so long as you have ammo. Rifles cannot be concealed, and most handguns are not easy to maintain controlled fire with.

 

Whereas, a knife is far more personal. It's silent. It's easily concealed. It can be carried everywhere without any issue. And given the body density of a classroom, it's just as effective at ending lives.

Growing up my family was rather poor so a lot of the meat we ate was venison. Once I was old enough to hunt (which where I lived was 12) my dad and I were both bringing home 2 deer each every season. A lot of people use hunting as a way of supplimenting their foodstock. Not sure when just surviving became "unsavory"

As far as I remember the recent school shooting was committed using an AR-15 which is a rifle and the las vegas shooting was not so up close and personal.

 

You can outrun a person wielding a knife though and it is easier to defend yourself against it unless you are not fit.

Like Ace Levey most people are not trained in knife throwing or actually have a throwing knife. Grab a kitchen knife and throw it 10 times at a wooden fence, it actually sticking in is more luck than skill or the tool you are throwing .

Plus far lighter than a throwing knife so wouldn't stick in so easily, still hurt like hell though and could kill.

 

Just remember though in a zombie apocalypse a chain saw and an axe is better than a gun .

That heavily depends. For the chainsaw you would need gas which is kind of equal to the ammo for the gun and if you have done some woodsplitting you know that you dont want/ cant swing an axe with full power for too long, not even mentioning getting the axehead stuck in the skull or something like that.

But they can learn how to do it, even at home without any kind of permit. Plus the throwing knifes can be made at home pretty easily from sheet metal.
