Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Jeep will need to put it's hearing aids in, Toyota cars on the other hand...LOL. My 2000 Celica with 135K and somehow my 98 Mazda 626 with 172K miles are largely problem free. Mazda did get a trans but might have been able to limp the old one along for a while more but I was concerned about it breaking in the winter and not having a car to drive.

I wanna get some pavers to level out the ground where my front wheels are.

I plan on changing out the plates for a specialty plate.

The assumption is that cars accumulate miles as they age. Unless I guess you like garage queen a 1984 Jeep Wrangler for some reason.

I read that as depression. Was more fitting in the context of jeeps.

Two updates.

This weekend I'm tagging along with my mother who is SUV Shopping. She's gonna trade in her 2004 Ford expedition (150k miles) for a 2016-2017 SUV. Primary candidate is a $17k Nissan Rogue.

Also, the box for the transmission finally came in. This weekend I might also bring it to a shop and have them rip out the tranission so I can ship it. The turnaround time for me getting it back including shipping is gonna be around a month..... ? but if that's what it takes to get this fixed... [synchronizer gears, LSD Upgrade]

Colorado. Shipping is 3-5 days each way, so the rebuild was estimated to be 2-3 weeks.

Got my car a month ago. It's an upgrade from my '91 Buick, which needs a new starter wires... I replaced the starter two years ago.

Anyway, here's mah bby

2014 Subaru Crosstrek. It apparently has all the upgrades for that year.

People complain that they're slow, but it doesn't feel that way.

I hear they aren’t the fastest things out there, and they suck down fuel. Also the engine isn’t based off the other Subaru flat 4 engines sup upgrades for power get expensive fast. Also on its own platform. They look rather cool I must say. I was looking at them before I saw the price tag and the fuel economy.

Eventually an XJ manual...

My girlfriend has a 2015 Nissan Juke Nismo edition. That thing is designed to go fast, yet it's acceleration is slower than mine. That being said, my Subaru does what it needs to do and handles like a champ. I get an average of 26 MPG, where the Juke gets about 20.

Fuel economy is not too much worse than an HR-V, plus the Crosstrek has full time AWD. Price tag is higher than other stuff in it's class, again probably attributed to the standard AWD.

AWD is a serious draw where I live but not a necessity tbh. My wagon gets like 33-37 in town, and 40-45 highway depending on hills vs terrain. 26 mpg isn’t bad, but I couldn’t touch a crosstrek for my price range. Subie owners are proud of their cars.

Yeah, I can understand not needing the AWD. It's a draw for me since I live in the Smoky Mountains and roads can be shotty as best during the cold and rainy months. Honestly, I would love a 2014 Dodge Charger.

I live down 3 miles of maintained (somewhat) dirt road and we get some decent rains in the winter in my part of So Cal. Nothing like other states, but for us a decent amount. Lots of clay in the mountain range I live in, and AWD would be nice no doubt. So many cars got stuck this last winter people were staying home from work. Got about 7 inches of rain in a 14-18 hour period and the clay just became as slick as a slip and slide. Being FWD does help with the weight over the front tires, but if it was an AWD subie, I could have been smiling rather than questioning if I should have stayed down the mountain at my girls place lol. But main reason to look away of anything AWD, just wasn't in my price range. Going used and needing to go from a dealer, I didn't feel comfortable buying a subie sub 15k. Plus being a car guy, who wants the base model lol? Then I saw the mileage of my VW Golf TDI wagon it took the cake. Least for now. Maybe I will get somthing different when I am out of school. Been wanting an XJ for the bad weather days, and maybe a later year of an e39 540i manual for the dry days lol? V8, German, can get a stick, and decent looks? Sign me up lol. The XJ would be a stick shift of course too for the laughs of inline 6 American screaming!

What wagon do you have?

2015 VW Golf TDI Sportwagen. 2.0 turbo diesel with the DSG which is a dual clutch. DSG isnt bad at all, wish I had gotten a manual for more fun, and slightly better MPG, but this was what they had. Its white, and stock aside from the headlight assemblies and window tint. Already put more than 20k on it since mid January when I got it.

Other choice for a high mpg wagon was the BMW diesel wagon. But I didn't see the value in anything above 20k lol. Had a few BMWs in my life so the brand didn't scare me. The 3 and 5 series BMW diesels are nice cars, just to expensive for their relative competition in the high MPG wagon market. Plus the golf is a bit more sporty than the 5 series cars would have been.
