Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Generally, yes. But the cost of fuel is about x2 from what you have in the US.

It's just the lack of engine-, and style options you guy have when it comes to cars. It's all pretty much sedans, trucks, and SUV's. Small cars, wagons, and hot-hatches are nowhere to be found.

Along with manual transmissions, of course. I for one would love to have a BMW 140i with a manual. A fairly small car with a good amount of power.

people don't wanna drive manual because they're too lazy. Even the younger generation, which normally wants to have fun in their cars before, are too lazy to do it nowadays to learn. It's honestly stupid how lazy our generation has become so lazy to the point they don't wanna drive stick anymore, even though it's technically an essential skill.

So I got terrible sleep last night because I woke up in the middle of the fucking night because there was a cop going like 60 in my cul-de-sac and he suddenly blared his sirens and lights and i thought it was some intruder who was gonna smash his car into my house or something, and i was scared for a few moments because my room is closest to the street, and I thought it was an intruder or some shit. That police car literally scared the shit out of me bc it was so out of nowhere.

Got my Golf back yesterday. $440 later... :/ That engine mount must have been loose for a long time and I just never knew it. Now the 3" downpipe doesn't hit the steering rack under hard acceleration anymore. :P Man, I missed the boost and ripping that car through the gears. :D

Now, to become a hypocrite, lol. I have come to a new decision with regards to my next car (when ever that will eventually be). It will be a pure EV. I am officially done with ICE's and all the mess they bring with them for a daily driver. I am convinced 100% that EV's are the future. No more stopping for gas. No more oil changes. No more drive-train related repairs. The list goes on.

I'm not saying EV's don't have their own problems nor are they maintenance-free. But they are FAR simpler (mechanically) and by that principle, makes them far less troublesome to own and operate.

ICE's have been around for over a century and still operate in the same basic way. They are horribly inefficient (still) and it's time to move on. Hybrids like the Prius and others like it, are just band-aid solutions, IMO. Their EV modes suck and they still require fuel. Go all the way, don't half-ass it. ;)

Anyways, that's my little rant and why I'm going full EV next time.

Cheers. :)

Can you afford 2 cars? maybe get an EV as a daily then have a fun weekender car that still makes lovely sounds.

And I'm only at 33 TB written on mine.

My wife has a car too (2013 Elantra). ;) She works from home though, so it gets driven far less, but it would more than suffice for long-trip duty. At this point if you have to occasionally make long-distance trips, it is wise to have an ICE powered car for such times. Totally agree with that. EV battery and charging tech isn't at that level yet.

The EV would be my daily driver and around-town vehicle.

Reminded me of an endurance test that The Tech Report did. I think that the last standing was the 256GB, 840 Pro. With something crazy like 2,000+ TB written to it.

And I'm only at 33 TB written on mine.

An 850 PRO just set a new record with 9,100 TB. Crucial BX200s failed at ~200TB, one of Sandisks' Extreme Pros did 2,200TB.
