Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

It’s ok. I halfway didn’t expect it to... tho I was overly excited as you can probably tell (posted it here)

will keep looking for a killer deal like it. Gotta keep an eye on foreclosures around here

Here prices were getting crazy inflated. Its settling down though. 72k might get you some land here. 140k might get you a dump thats had squatters living in it for years.

realestate has been doing well the past few years, so everything is a little high to be honest.

But I live in the perfect area for it.. can still get reasonably priced stuff in decent areas. (New Iberia is kinda sketchy except for that one little area that house was in, but im also looking in other areas. Anything shorter than my current 23 mile one-way commute I'd be happy with)

Good rental properties here...and a lot of flipping opportunities

iirc my parents house was around 350k here. 4bed, 2.5 bath. I think it's a little bigger tho.. like 2300 sq ft. on a bit more land too, maybe .5

I'm just guessing on those last two.

I'm looking at cheapish places that first, would make good rentals. second, are something I'd live in.

That way I'm both getting a good deal and can stay in the house for a couple years at least, maybe even pay it off, before I go find another place and rent that place out(or just stay and get another house purely for rent if I find a particularly nice place to start).

I still want a garage but I dont think that's gonna happen.. would probably have to like turn a carport into one :/

my house is worth about 325k. 3 beds, 2 bath, 1700 sq ft or so. still below average for this city lol.

My neighbors did that. Turned out well. Obviously it's not ideal but it's better than no cover at all I guess.

I just want land to build a shop. Most attached garages don't have the ceiling height for lifts. Ideally, have a shop near to the house with a small carport that connects the two that can be used for washing cars and such out of the sun and rain.

Not with that particular model, but my sister's '13 500 has not been a good vehicle.

After a rain the trunk can't be opened, each of the door handles has broken off at one point, the sunroof works about 70% of the time, and now it's sitting on jack stands in my dads garage because a brake bleeder broke off and there are no new calipers in the Midwestern US.

Because of that car, I'm going to avoid any cars even remotely associated with FIAT for the immediate future.

oh geez that sounds terrible. so far ive only read mostly positive reviews well except the normal usual bits.

dont get how the trunk would lock up after a rain. that sounds terrible.

how do you break off a door handle. like seriously.

by sunroof you mean an electrical problem?

brake bleeder? isnt that a tool that you use on it and not a part of the car?

well availability for parts is way better here than in the US i imagine

I have to imagine water is is getting into the electric latch, but we haven't dug into it at this point. This is probably the most annoying thing she's had to deal with.

3 hours ago, cluelessgenius said:

I thought it was weird too, but after a google search I learned it's actually really common with those cars. They molded the plastic mounting points out of a very brittle plastic, so after a few summer/winter heat cycles they just break off. Relatively easy and cheap repair, but more than a little annoying.

3 hours ago, cluelessgenius said:

No, it's a nipple on the caliper that allows fluid and air to escape during maintenance.

They can be replaced, but with how this one broke off, we'd need to rethread the caliper and doing that introduces metal shavings into the caliper which kinda defeats the purpose of changing the caliper seals; so new calipers was the only decent option.

3 hours ago, cluelessgenius said:

I would certainly hope so! It appears their parts network in the US is complete trash. A brake caliper is not an oddball part, so I would expect every service dept to have some around.

To be fair, after my experience with my sisters FIAT, I'm not sure it even counts as ridicule since it's factual.
