Deltatronic's fanless X99 Workstation

German computer builder Deltatronic has release some photos on their fanless X99 workstation, where it's cooled by what they called "Heavy duty convector cooler". The system is passively cooled by a giant fin array on the side panel, with CPU and GPU blocks, all connected together by heatpipes. The system supports a selected range of processors, from the 140w tdp Core i7 5820K to a 10 core 160w tdp Xeon E5 2687W. Graphic cards has a selected range too, entry level GeForce 210 or up to the PNY Quadro K4200 workstation gpu. It would be interesting to see, what the temperatures are at max load, when one is configured with top of the line parts. The barebone kit with a Core i7 5820K and 16GB of DDR4 ram starts at 1,990 Euros

I remember NCIXKeys having a Z97 (i think) machine that was also completely fanless and similar to this. Would be interesting to see this reviewed though, tbh.

I love this, but can't you get GeForce 210's that are fanless I have one in my basement.

Very big heat pipes.

I'm curious to know how well it performs under intense work loads

@Stefan1024 seems like your specialty

Yes, thanks for inform me ;)

Deltartonic makes fanless PCs since several years. And it also took theirs product and pictures as inspiration for my build...

The PCs are expensive, they really are. But I think they are not overpiced. My selfmade build cost slightly more than the one from Deltatronic with the same spec. Even thougth I hoped to get it cheaper when I started^^

But the price wasn't the main reason. I like to build something out of metal and it a good "work-out" after spending the whole day studying.

If you are interested in a fanless gaming PC, you can also choose a GTX980 and a i7-4790(k). But my new build will beat it with dual GTX980 (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/351134-the-silent-cube-pushing-passive-cooling-to-the-limit-with-dual-gtx-980-update-1-38-kg-heat-sinks-ordered/)

post-216771-0-61740400-1431442638.jpg

For the second build I also thougth about getting a X99 system, but because of the four channel RAM all MoBo's have the CPU VRM heatsink at the top and block the way for the heat pipes. And I don't like to cut through the heat sink like Deltatronic does. And I don't have infinite money as well :) In addition my workload favours less but very fast cores.

post-216771-0-54838800-1431442746.jpg

But I guess there is something connecting the back of the MoBo to the big passive heatsink. So don't worry about overheating.

And Linus: I hope you don't overclock this baby! Not because it will overheat, but it's against the philosophy. 50% more power for 10% more performance? Yes sure that sounds great for a fanless system.

But I know you, you will squeeze every MHz out of it, if you get your hands on one....

im calling bull shit. too passively cool a x99 you would need a heat sink the size of a atx case.

Hi @LinusTech

Is there any chance you will ever review one? I'm still pretty interested in a review of the system or an other high end fanless system in general....
