ocaholic: Fiji (390x) will not launch at computex - sources suggest June 24th

Briggsy

A lot of people are really scared of that concept, but the reality is if it ever does eventuate (I don't think it will) there is no evidence that it will get as bad as people make out. Sure the price will go up, but there are so many more factors that dictate/limit the shelf price than competition.

The antitrust/monopoly fines would hit Nvidia hard from China, U.S., Canada, Europe and other possible places that don't tolerate a monopoly. The fines are not small, especially for large scale semi-conductor companies. Here's one from China that hit Qualcomm in February.

Who knows what the US government would do in a situation like that.

I don't think they would get fined purely because they are a monopoly, they would get fined if they used that monopoly to their advantage (Antitrust). As you point out,  the fines can be huge and damaging becasue they are in developing or big money markets like china.  This is just another reason why Nvidia would be careful not to go full retard if it ever eventuated that they became the sole GPU provider.

Ohh Ok,I Thought I Heard Somewhere That If A Company Is About To Go Bankrupt And That Would Cause Another Company To Become A Monopoly They Would Help That Company And Give Give Them Money.

It would be cheaper for Nvidia and Intel to buy stock in AMD, or throw money at AMD, than to deal with constant anti-trust investigations and fines. I believe Microsoft at one point in time were throwing money at Apple, and word on the street was because they needed Apple alive to keep the fines to a minimum. It's a definite possibility if AMD started hurting and couldn't find investors.

AMD, if you drop the ball...you're going to have a bad time.

Though, still gotta thank you for sponsoring the PC Gaming Event at E3, along with others. :P

But don't you think that'll save you. Oooohhh nooo, don't you think of it for a second! *twitches*

It's pretty disappointing when trying to find new information on these GPUs, you get hype train marketing of an unreleased product and trash articles from wccftech. I do care about AMD, but many of us reached the blunt point of "put up or shut up."

Welcome to the world of speculation that surrounds every product whether it be from Intel, AMD or Nvidia. There's not much hype surrounding Fiji yet other than what we do know about the product.

WCCFTechs's source tells them some dates for the launch for the Fiji series. They are -

Fiji XT (390X) JUNE 24

Othera (300 serioea) JUNE 18

These dates are official by no means so take it with a grain of salt. TheY also claimed that the 390x MIGHT appear at June 18 but not hit the shelves till june 24...

Wccf gets mentioned a lot as a source.

So many people hate the website.

If the 390x doesn't outperform the titanx, I may be tempted to go that route for longevity's sake.

So, can we expect them to slap 2 of them into a 395x2 in time for the holidays? I think the behemoth would be a perfect addition to my folding farm and a damned good space heater for my basement. *Tries not to spontaneously combust from anticipation*
