Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?

P68 (NetBurst).

 

I wouldn't call NetBurst a failure. Pentium 4s were quite popular and provided adequate performance for the time. Sure, they were insanely hot, spawned the creation of the BTX form factor, and crushed Intel's dreams of clock speeds in the double digits, but its not like any other architecture has been able to achieve it.

Well as a technology they were a failure but commercially a success. Performance wise they were very poor in comparison to the K8 competition from AMD at the time.

I think we need to draw a line between a product that didn't do as well as expected and a failure.   

 

The Newton Was a Failure, the Virtual Boy was a Failure.   But AMD (as much as I am not a fan) isn't so much a failure as it is needing new direction.   

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

wow, people think a company is a failure when it has 25% of the market in GPU's and 20% for  x86 processors. And Apple watch is a failure?  people have seen the sales figures on this item yes?

I need to put my ram under liquid nitrogen.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

You know those Dyson fans that use a turbine and there are no blades to hit? I thought those would be cool. Then a minute later, I realized they'd be big, loud, and kinda inefficient for static pressure. And airflow.

When I was younger, I thought DVD decoder cards were a really good idea. 

At the time they were, but CPUs got so fast, that they quickly became obsolete.

What is wrong with a water cooled PSU? It would need a separate loop but I dont see the problem

Google Glass. That turned out to be a failure. Let's see if Microsoft can pull off Hololens better than Google executed Glass. And at a much lower price PLEASE.

Oh, Oh! "Let's just replace the CPU with another GPU!".

Theoretically that could work, you'd just basically have to build an entirely new motherboard/operating system around it.

 

A GPU is basically just a CPU specialized for graphics
