PC vs PS4 vs XboxOne

HmmR

495 and 493 $ so yeah also you can't play with R7 260X at 1080 60 FPS with high settings and AA on.

@-TesseracT- no monitor.

Well you can't do that on the PS4 either so... And you don't HAVE to have everything on high settings with AA. No monitor, like I said, you don't include a damn TV in the price of a console.

And the price difference is fucking worth it damn it.

Okay use the TV, the builds you gave me are 495 and 493 $ more expensive than consoles and can't play 1080 60 FPS at high settings nad AA on, yes console have AA on and play at high settings see this for example http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-metro-redux-face-off.

You still haven't built a PC that can beat the consoles for their price, 100$+ but no 1080P 60FPS I think your doing it wrong.

My reasoning for choices:

Poll 1: PC - Things just plain work all from the same place, no need to boot up another device to game on when you decide to change titles, can spend a modest amount on one great machine instead of the same amount on several consoles to achieve the same effect.

Poll 2: PC - Greater compatibility with media formats, multitasking etc.

Poll 3: PC - Over 3000+ exclusive titles that you'll never see on any console.

Poll 4: Don't have an Xbox One so cannot say yes. I suppose the feature is neat though.

you have to keep in mind that a somewhat decent 1080p monitor starts at 100$ while tvs are at around 200 -250$ or even more and every console title you buy is 10$ more expensive. you also don't have big sales like steam sales AND you have to pay 50$ to play online per year, while not much it adds up to what you have to invest on the first time you buy a console.

and what console can play AAA titles at 1080p 60 FPS not to mention high settings with aa on?

as for peripherals, a mouse and key board can be bought for 10-20$ each, a DS4 or xBox controller cost 60$

You would already own a TV but you may not own a monitor, 10$ MORE ??? have you been to the playstation store ?? did you see the sales ??? the PS+ service offers more than online gaming it also offers sales on games and you can play some games a whole month for free, the titles they select are pretty good.

Nope they don't but if you read my whole discussion you would have seen what I meant, he included builds in other comments that were 100$ more expensive and can't play 1080P 60FPS at high settings and AA on.

Why is it irrelevant ???

Because everyone is in a different situation and everyone has different preferences as to what something is "worth" (it's value) and what is enjoyable/fun apart from the actual cost.

There's simply too many variables and not enough consistency between platforms (and individuals) to make a valid cost comparison. The most we can do is list objective pros and cons (cost of which cannot be included) for each and let the individual decide which they prefer, according to their own preferences. Even among the pros and cons, people will not agree.

Sure go build a PC for their price that is better than them.

Well it is quite easy, I see loads of people coming up with builds with a minor difference of 50$ compared to a console price.

Let me give an example of why the cost argument for PC vs. console is irrelevant;

I have a friend of mine who I've known for many years. He's tech-savvy and enjoys gaming. Since I re-entered the PC gaming world back in the fall of 2013, I've shown him my PC, what it's capable of (graphics and performance-wise) and all the cheap games on Steam. I even showed him he could build a PC that costs about the same as his Xbox One but give better frame rates/resolution etc. Did that sway him? No. Why? Because those things just don't appeal to him. He doesn't buy many games because he likes to play each game to it's fullest. That's what he enjoys. Even if he did save money by switching to PC, it wouldn't matter because he doesn't care about frame rates (as long as it's playable and the games look good enough). He plays the games for what they are, not what they're running on.

I have another friend who I've known since grade 2. Also tech savvy and a PC gamer as well. He also owns an array of consoles and several versions of the same game for multiple platforms. He cares about frame rates and graphics, but mostly for all the exclusive games/content available across all these platforms. He's the type that will spend more than the average person on games regardless of the platform. And, unlike my other friend, this guy has a number of games he's never even played and probably 80% or more he's played, but never finished.

See what I'm saying? Two different people, two very different sets of preferences. What is appealing/enjoyable to one person, is not to another. What one person chooses to spend money on is not worth it to another.

Do I like consoles? No. Do I care what other people choose to game on? No. Do I share and tell people who game on consoles the benefits of PC gaming? You bet! But do I force those values on them when they show no interest? No.

We all share a common love for games and I think when it comes to cross-platform debates, that needs to be remembered above all.

If there was a Wii/Wii U tab for exclusives I would have picked that.

Nintendo has the best exclusives, hands down.

Just to clarify, I would say the WiiU has the best console exclusives (IMO). ;)

Thats why I own one of everything. If its a game worth playing, its a game worthy playing. I'll keep supporting "bad industry habits" whenever I buy a Uncharted, or Halo, or even a PC exclusive. Restricting your entertainment is more or less the height of idiocy, the child equivalent of "NA NA NA I CANT HEAR YOU".

I have friends just like yours. Hell, I could be one of those people myself. My rigs are all powerful, so what? Its sitting right next to me, yet I don't have a desire to play. I might go BF4 for a bit, but then later I'll go play some Halo with my friends. And then maybe FIFA. I might swing back to PC later to put some more time into KotOR II. I don't really care.

The constant bickering from all sides is just white noise at this point. Live and let live. Not everyone cares about what you do, or to the extent you do. If I pushed PC onto my friends as hard as these people claim they push onto others, I wouldn't actually have many friends. People don't like being told how to entertain themselves. My friends aren't idiots. They are impressed with some games and with my PC in particular, since I went to the trouble of making one just to play those games. But they also don't give a shit when we get our 7 player FIFA squad together and sit in a party all night long having some good old fun.

But hey, that makes me either a:

A. Fanboy shill

B. Sheep

C. Idiot who likes wasting money

D. Dirty Peasant

E. All the above
