Steam gets fps counter!

shermantanker

The steam beta client was updated with an FPS counter last night. Currently the color and position are not customizable, but my guess is the will change once it is patched into the full client.

Finally I can uninstall fraps from my computer. Those bold yellow numbers mess with my experience.

Finally I can uninstall traps from my computer. Those bold yellow numbers mess with my grove.

I want the counter to be very small, transparent and in a color that isn't distractive. It would be great if you could switch it on and off very easily as well.

I'd still prefer Overwolf over this.

And it needs to support 4k or higher resolutions to be practical for everybody.

I understand when running an FPS counter when you first start a game, but I don't understand while people constantly run them during every single game.

Regardless, this is a neat new feature.

Makes Fraps obsolete.

I never understood what it did. What exactly does Overwolf do?

It was a multipurpose tool. It had a mini browser, apps, TS integration, video recorder, even an FPS counter like FRAPS and the like.

There are some people that only care about framerate more than gameplay these days. Instead of getting engrossed in the game, they'd rather stare at a number in the corner of the screen.

Have you heard of MSI afterburner/ EVGA Precision X/ Powercolor Power Tuner etc. etc...

They all use RivaTuner for overlays and stuff, and that is highly customizable (color, size, different measures like % GPU usage) you can assign a button to show/hide the overlay as well

Fraps is shit compared to everything else

Give it a whirl

So you can't use your own initiative to see if a game is running like shit? You need to actually be told?

Also, I was referring to having the counter on at all times, even while playing the game.

I recommend MSI afterburner instead, well assuming you're not just doing it through steam

i like it, it is really tiny though.

I dont like how big frap's was, but this is just a bit too small for me. maybe slightly bigger, or make it an adjustable size, that would be great!
