I returned the z35 to Amazon since it had issues. I went on a buy return rampage till I found a monitor that didn't have things wrong with it. The X34 was my last option and it succeeds where the others failed.

What issues did the Z35 have?

I'm glad you found a monitor you're happy with.  ?

If only it was possible to get clear switch stems and make the molding on the caps harder to see, because that would be so incredibly neat. Floating keycaps man.

I guess it's an epeen thing or something. I was happy using a TI-30XIIS unless I had to use a graphing calculator, in which case I just used a TI-84 C whatevertherestofthetopendonewas emulator on my phone (at least in everything minus Algebra because the teacher was a royal bitch).

Maybe it was just a bad Z35?    Perhaps a new one would've been fine?

Black smear is a thing that affects that piticular monitor due the panel type it uses. As for the dead or stuck pixels every referb monitor from Acer had one or both of these faults with it.

Yeah I live here: -83.823245, 29.760743. Come visit :^)

I got these keycaps from aliexpress:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/104-Keys-Translucidus-keycap-Transparent-ABS-Blank-Keycaps-Keycaps-For-OEM-Cherry-MX-Switches-Mechanical-Gaming/32667629491.html

I chose the translucent type. Pretty good set, but you can definitely see the stems of the keycaps and the molding in general. For ~20 USD nothing to really complain about though.

Shipping was also pretty fast (for Aliexpress, it was like 10-12 days or whatever)

I checked, it says on Acer's site that the Z35 is a VA panel.  Is that the newer type that's attempting to combine the benefits of an IPS panel with a TN?

I meant don't get a refurb but rather a brand new previously unused Z35.  You would've paid more but if that was the monitor you had wanted it hopefully wouldn't had the issues that the refurb ones did.

Unless the problems are widespread enough to make avoiding a Z35 for now the better option.

Not it that it matters much at this point I suppose.

Honestly the price difference on Amazon of 200 bucks the X34 is far superior to the Z35

What is a dedicated cuda card for?

Does that need it's own card?    Or such a weak one for that matter?

I mean, a stronger Nvidia card would perform those tasks faster wouldn't it?

Also, I saw another topic that LAwLz had posted earlier that mentioned that shadowplay recording is handled through a dedicated hardware thing on Nvidia GPUs and something about newer versions of the cards having a more updated version of the recording chip.

So a newer generation and more powerful Nvidia card would likely do what you need faster and produce higher quality recordings.
