It's just the nature of seeing new people post the same questions over and over...
But plenty of sections can be fruitful, I come back every week to catch up on things maybe.. not as often as I did when I first arrived.

Just the nature of things... each to their own of course.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I find this forum to be least boring one that I am on.

Many other forums have less than 50 active members and every thread turns into a debate or goes off topic. Also this forum has old content worth reading.  Other forums (music, ect) have old content but there is not very much value in reading it.

Came here to ask about a problem that haunted my used Rx5600XT that I have since sold off for parts, stayed to answer questions that I can answer based on my own experiences.

There's nothing else like here any more. The forum format makes it a great place to talk and have substantial conversations, especially compared to 'modern' social media.

that's the true forum experience though... you often learn stuff you didn't even know you wanted to know!

there are other forums, with similar member count/activity,  but ironically ltt has generally more variety for some reason, probably due to its structure, and also i like the none political aspect...... political discussions on forums are usually awful and kinda highly unproductive...

Its interesting to follow discussions and developments in the tech space, and its not the moste salty forum one can hang out in.

Its nice sharing ideas and thoughts with others with the same interests.

I originally hung out on silentpcreviews' site, but that place is a ghosttown now. I really liked the focus on quiet computers though

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

I'm mostly on here when at work. I originally created my account when starting out my current job and and i had lots of downtime at the start.

First i was very eager to help people build computers and watched practically every review there is. I was very well informed of the (then) current hardware market and could genuinely help people to build PC's that made the most sense for their budget. Then Covid and mining crisis made me completely lose interest in that because it was just frustrating when nothing was good value. The only recommendation that made sense was to wait it out. So my interest in building computers or advising about them slowly died down. The only time i pick it up now is whenever i'm directly asked by a friend for example or i need some part for myself.

By that time, my enthusiasm and knowledge about monitors was at a point where i mostly spent my time on the display subforum, advising people on their purchases and being excited about new display tech hitting the market.

But over the last year or so i lost interest in pointless internet arguments that don't lead to anything, so i barely post anything nowadays. And even if i write up an argument, more often that not i don't post it because i think: What is the point? I don't have to prove anything to some stranger on the internet. At some point you just understand that.

Currently i'm mostly browsing the tech news, off-topic and general discussion subforums to see if anything there catches my interest. But the hardware market is extremely slow atm. There is no innovation. And if there is, then only on a linear scale with price. Looking at the 4090 for example, insane performance, but also insane price. Basically no price/performance improvement was achieved over the last generations. All the faster GPUs got price hikes that made them no better value than last-gen.

All in all my interest in tech has steadily decreased over the last 3 years, and so has my interaction with this forum.

As for the reason why i'm here specifically: It's one of the bigger communities and it's not as salty as reddit. That's about it.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I've watched LTT for a long time, so when I had a question about an AMD platform I had little experience with, I recalled mention of the forum on the videos; That was 2016. I stick around because the forum is mostly chill, and it's segmented in ways that make it fairly easy to ask questions and usually find answers.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

WD 5400RPM 2TB

EVGA G3 750W

Corsair Carbide 300R

Arctic Fans 140mm x4 120mm x 1

Because this is a tech focused and sort of niche community
