It's actually so easily audible that, when I picked it up last month, I ended up grabbing another from the local store in hopes of returning the first. That second card was even louder, with a lower pitched drone -- it sounded like a hornet's nest buzzing away in my PC, and ended up going back. I may have to invest in a case with sound deadening panels at some point.

Least it still isn't as bad as my old GTX 670. Could hear that thing from multiple rooms away.

That's another reason for me getting a TUF 4090 so I could put the FE in my AI upscaler box in another room.  Its quiet enough to not be audible from there.  The TUF still whines, but its a constant high pitched tone harder to notice whereas the FE had a constantly changing tone.

 

Its interesting though as it was a tone that DID seem to be dampened slightly when I upgraded the PC to the be quiet! Dark Base Pro 901 with dampening foam in it, but it was still annoying in an otherwise quiet room.

 

I moved my router into the hallway as it also developed coil whine and due to the constantly fluctuating load it was extremely annoying.  Although in that case I think it might have been the PoE splitter wearing out as it too was whining.

So I reached out to the usual person I do at LMG and can confirm hardware prizes are coming. 

 

There is one that is a soft-yes atm but I'm not going to share that until it is locked in. They are also in talks with a couple of other brands. 

 

I'll reach out to them again towards the end of the week for further updates.

you know how many linux servers would fail to boot if i rebooted them...that's the amazing thing one hospital i worked for had a linux server with over 2500 days of uptime...and had alll the HDDS replaced at one time or another...they shut it down after migrating the data and the new server had an issue the next day they went to turn it back on and the boot drive was dead...

Especially in isolated/internal networks, linux uptime is special.  At one point back when Apple had an actual Mac OS Server version (not a server "App"), I got about 2 and a half years of uptime out of it though. 🙂
