You can do a couple of things to reduce your Electricity costs.

 

You can power and/or clock-limit your GPUs to greatly improve their efficiency. Reducing the Power Limit on Pascal or later cards by 40-50% typically only decreases their yield (PPD) by 15-20%.

 

Limiting the maximum GPU clock to 1440MHz for Ampere or Turing GPUs or 2200-2400MHz for Ada GPUs has a similar boost in efficiency.

 

If you have Time-of-Use rates from your Electricity provider you can also set your GPUs to just Fold during the periods when Electricity is least expensive.

 

I'm all about doing the most amount of work at the lowest Power Consumption and run all my GPUs clock limited and run only my older (Turing) GPUs, which are massively inefficient compared to Ada, during periods when the Electricity is lest expensive.

With the flat rate kwh generation I pay for, I was worrying I'd not use enough to save money o this month's bill(1MW). Not so, 1080s are sucking away plenty of juice.

I think it works even better when you don't pay for electricity at all

 

Unfortunately I pay it in rent, but they don't really monitor usage anyway, so I think I am good (waiting for an angry knock at my door about the power bill for the month)...

Anyway, had some more downtime today when i installed my new router and other networking stuff. Lets hope the dip in PPD isn't gonna be too bad!

PPD will be down for me today, but so far all of my hardware is still holding up strong. I've added two more GPUs and one CPU to my mix of folding hardware.

I wish I could handle it, I literally start to pass out as it approaches the mid 20s.  If room humidity goes over around 50% my Asthma starts to play up too, especially combined with temperature.  Its why I actually have AC in my room, but the inefficient portable kind due to it being the only way I could avoid having to beg the council to let me install it.

Even in the winter I will have tendency to put the AC on, though I've been trying to adjust to just the fan part.

Last year I found once it drops below about 5C then it becomes harder to heat the rest of the house, but that may differ now I'm venting mostly into the hallway.

I tried tinkering with board power limits and clock speeds again. Turns out the OEM 3060s do listen to MSI Afterburner, I'm just an idiot who expected the clock adjustments to take without clicking "apply" like the fan adjustment does. 

 

Dropping the clock speed to 1750 let me turn the chassis fans down without baking the GPUs, and I saw about a 20 to 30 watt power difference from the wall for both chassis. But them the estimated PPD number started going down, which made me sad, so I put everything back the way it was.
