"only the third best day of each team is considered for the rankings"

Going to be an interesting mechanic to work around for Javelin

With the yoyo@home for country run severly limiting the bunkering I can do, I may mostly back off and start working on srbase after things kick off tonight. The people who want to just set a discipline or 2 and not mess with more complex bunkering can do country run, while those who do bunker are freed up for other disciplines as they pop up. You don't have to bunker for the other tasks, but those with more hardware should probably try to bunker when they can. Might be best to skip 1or2 javelin's to get better overall scores since we only need 3 of 5, but will leave that up to others to decide. Unless we want to jsut hit country run hard and let other events suffer, as that has been mentioned in the past(country run looks to be this years marathon equivelent)

Not sure if it's related to your issue, but I found that I had to let yoyo run and submit for several hours (on each machine) before it figured out that I was consistently completing every task in 1-4 hours and stopped giving an estimate of nearly 2 days for each task.  Then I was able to download several hundred tasks.  Same issue with PrimeGrid, had to let it run and submit before it figured out all my GPUs were finishing every task in 3-15 minutes, not the 1 day initial estimate.

How does the Obstacle Run work?
The Obstacle Run takes place during the whole Pentathlon. During this time, three obstacles of one day each have to be crossed. At each obstacle, each team gets a bonus of 25%, 50%, or 100% of the credits it scored on the day in this discipline's stats. The obstacles and the bonus are announced at the beginning of the respective day. The team with the most credits earned, including the bonus credits, wins.

Is there any kind of unified team strategy to bunker the marathon to try for release on bonus days?

Does yoyo just take up one core the whole time or am I doing something wrong?

Correct - YOYO is an event that will run through the whole event.

2nd day for Javelin been announced:

And yes, yoyo@home is a bit of an odd one when first firing it up on a new machine.  Just give it a bit, and the project will get itself straighten out.

So, event is ON!!

Very nice, so far we up in the top ten.  Hmmm, wonder if we can stay on SETI.USA heels or even get past them?

Also, currently just have my 5800X munching when I ain't using it.  Currently aim at yoyo@home.  Do have the 3080Ti on the ready when PrimeGrid is a go.  Might try to rig up my lappy to do some crunching as well.  Might take one of my fans to just aim at it.

If you just fire up yoyo@home, the times will start off high for a bit.  Let it run for a tad and it should normalize after submitting some WUs (Work Units).

whoops, accidentally forgot to fold for LTT. I guess my current output is around 10k credits a day, I'll run Yoyo throughout the event.

Couple of observations :

i) From my time playing with P95, P2 tests are hugely memory intensive so I've decided to try just ECM tasks. Will let you all know if that makes my (16GB RAM) laptop more responsive. Right now doing other things with Yoyo running in the background is a terrible experience.

ii) We're in 4th now as opposed to 8th back in the start, guess someone released some big bunkers 🙂

First day's report is out : https://www.seti-germany.de/forum/content/528-boincpentathlon

Looks like [H]ard|OCP have made some major gains if they're competing with P3D for the top 3 places. They finished P6 in the 2021 Pentathlon, tied with us for total points.

To those trying to install BOINC on remote servers, this is a pretty neat "guide" (the infomation was really quite obscure): http://www.benjamin-lemonnier.eu/notes/boinc-manage-remote-client.html

just use boinc-client instead of boinc. And make sure that whatever port you're using (default is 31416 iirc) is open so you can connect remotely, if you're doing this outside your home network.

"A high ideal missed by a little, is far better than low ideal that is achievable, yet far less effective"

If you think I'm wrong, correct me. If I've offended you in some way tell me what it is and how I can correct it. I want to learn, and along the way one can make mistakes; Being wrong helps you learn what's right.

We should be getting a WAN shout out, it will be in the doc, I don't know if I will be awake, but if I am I will try to remind them to talk about it. If you are planning to buy anything from LTTStore, do consider adding it as a message

Yeeeep heh.

What sucks is we have 4x 128 core Zen3 servers we don't "need" right now I'd love to use.

I e-wasted all the old servers I used to use for this, there is still some stuff left but I'll try not to think about what I can't use argh.
