GPU Watt spikes like crazy

Itnozetr3

im doing nothing, im just on my desktop, bored and tired, and then i decided to play roblox, i noticed something was off, i usually get around 100+ fps on a roblox game, but this time i only got 21 - 80 frames, so i pressed alt + z to check the performance stat, and i saw 400w power usage

note : after the incident i decided to do DDU, but after i reinstalled the drivers, it doesnt do anything, the watt still goes up to 400w

any help will be appriciated, thanks

Try another tool like GPU-Z to double check the reported numbers. If it remains, power reading may have gone faulty, thus the card puts itself in limiting mode. The GPU itself isn't taking that power, otherwise temps would be way higher, this is just the reporting.

It does look like the power reading is off, thus it goes into power limiting.

Option 1: find someone who can repair GPUs. I don't know where to start looking for this.

Option 2: look up "shunt mod". This is a technique used by some extreme overclockers to enable their GPUs to run at higher power limits than normal. Maybe this could be used to work around the fault, but I have no personal experience in using this.

If you decide to get a new GPU, this one should be repairable by someone who knows what they're doing. I'd guess the hit to the resale value wont be too extreme.
