To clarify, how far is mentioning something before it's advertising? I'd assume mentioning something like a program as a recent project you're working on is fine, but actively mentioning it anywhere and everywhere it could be applicable is not.

We allow sharing personal projects as long as there's no profit motive, its hosted on neutral platform (eg. Github) etc. Ofc, like with all of these, context matters. If you are actively looking for threads that are after something that you can provide, that crosses to guerilla advertising.

General Conduct

  • No harassment, discrimination, or abuse of any kind.

This is either incredibly vague, or incredibly all-encompassing, and I genuinely can't tell which - especially after certain threads have been left unmolested lately.

I'd be interested in some clarification as to what constitutes 'discrimination'.

I'd say the definition for discrimination lays it out pretty well

Yes as you would be advertising your items for sale on a 3rd party site. Now if you were selling them on the LTT forum in the Classified section, then it would be allowed as you could link to that.

If I'm reading this correctly, you are saying some thread has been ignored by moderation. I would like to point out that rules are just written guidelines. It still requires user input to notify staff about the brewing misconduct. So do please report anything that might be against the rules. Moderation will take a look, and inform you if the issues are within rules. Or acts to keep things within the rules.

To spring board off this: Moderators are only as effective as their community. A healthy community that reports issues gives the Moderation team ability to resolve them. We cant fix things we aern't aware of.

I'd estimate 9/10 reports we get are community based and the other 1/10 are ones moderation finds on their own.

We've slightly tweaked the wording of the rule to hopefully clarify this - the problem is promoting your own listings rather than just referencing other people's.

So legendary members such as myself are obviously excluded to most of these rules correct, such as links in signatures and allowed referral links? I mean I am practically a founder around these parts. Most of these are meant for the "noobs" of the forums so to speak?
