Did I sleep or was there no 3060 non ti or super ?

I saw AIB cards in stock at one UK seller some 10 minutes after they went on sale. Two other sellers emptied out immediately.

and why is Nvidia now using the ti naming scheme again ? I thought they wanted to name every refresh of their cards no 30xx super.

This is not a refresh.

they can't send cards by boat that takes a month and that they need to use air shipping which is substantially more expensive.

Wont comment on the other part, but this is a very true and valid. "routine" pricing is when you can optimise costs, such as using slower cheaper shipping. If you need to move stock fast, air is more expensive, and someone somewhere has to pay for it. If it was a one-off short term thing, a manufacturer might eat it, but if this is going to be the normal while there are shortages as no one wants to wait, it will cost more.

How much more shipping costs are is a different argument.

Personally I think he's just making shit up and also predicts broadly a lot of stuff that's just common sense really (not completely inaccurate referred to as "sources" here)

That doesn't mean he's wrong all the time, but that also doesn't mean he's got some super accurate and secret "insider sources"...

Thats yet another point where I think, why do they "have" to do that so that a few regular costumers and couple of scalpers get the product as fast as possible while the vast majority *still* has to wait several months for the item being in stock...

I would argue shipping with the regular, slower option would be much better in this case. But it's simply not plausible that the very likely, very limited stock has to be shipped out by air, this isn't an emergency food supply mission or something lol...

It sucks, but that what it is. There's a reason why we Canadians sometimes go shop in the US. Some of the stuff up here is 50%+ more after currency conversion.

So yes, @WereCat statement is correct in HIS market, the fact that it's not true in the US, doesn't make it false elsewhere.

I tried, the moment they appeared on the various stores, they showed Out Of Stock.

So they either had no stock to begin with, or scalper bots got smarter and were capable of automatically identifying the new products right as they launched and bought them all.

Amazon.ca still has no mention of the 3060 ti, too.

Bought 2 of them (Building two new Christmas presents :))  But here in Sweden all vendors reporting quite large stocks.  As of right now 17:30 local time every ASUS card have like 20 to 80 in stock depending on store and card.

I checked one local retailer's website about an hour and a half ago and they had two ASUS Duals and five TUFs available. I'm not sure when they actually went up for sale though (I'm assuming it was quite a bit earlier).

So, at least here, it seems to have been quite a bit better than the 3070.

Edit: There's still some available from other retailers.

Here in the UK FE was saying Coming Soon for the longest time after 14:00 and then just changed to Out of Stock so not sure if anyone even managed to get it. Looked at other retailers Scan said In Stock on all of them but wouldn't let you add anything to basket. Same with CCL. Ebuyer was allowing to add it to the basket but the card was ugly (PNY) and actually more like RTX3070 pricing, so no thanks. Will stick with my 1070 for now.

Its not like the MSRP means anything though, the FE cards have been in limited supply and the AIB cards are usually more expensive, except for the evga 3060Ti XC at $399 I noticed on newegg.

But I'm curious if those price tags were just a pricing mistake, or the pricing is because the AIBs are upset that they can't get any profit margin so they tried to increase the MSRP.

I get your point, although things can be more complicated.

On the end user side, there will be those who will buy something sooner for more, and there will be those who will wait to save a bit. There is nothing new there.

There is also some degree of risk on the supply side that demand today might not be there tomorrow. If the world has shown us nothing else in recent times, you can't expect everything to be predictable. Something as yet unknown can come along and change the market once again. Get the sale today, and bank the money.

Also, I have no idea what sorts of companies AIBs run as, but in many businesses they will likely have quarterly sales targets. Those involved likely have bonuses based on performance. That may also influence what to sell, and when.

yeah, some good points, they'll have their reasons, though as I said the approach definitely changed the last 10-20 years where the main goal at least seemed to be not to "piss off" the customers, whereas that actually doesn't seem to be a major concern anymore.

Although at least it looks like supply is better for these ("stealth released"?) 3060Ti cards, they also had more time to produce them, and maybe they were even a priority from the get go, who knows...

I know but almost always 1USD = 1EUR in terms of pricing over here. Sometimes it's +5% to 10% more but never 50%+... its just this year for the graphics cards. New Ryzens are priced at MSRP in most places for example.

Nvidia msrp in Europe for the 3060 TI FE is 419€ so when seeing that the aib card prices are really a joke the lowest price in Euros I have seen is 499€ for a Zotac card and the most expensive the ROG Strix at 650€, that's not really the price of the mid range card.

Problem is that prices in EU are listed with tax included while the $399 are excluded tax.  Germany have 19% VAT so those $399 suddenly become $474 MSRP.

Pricing is actually pretty competitive over here in the UK, problem is that nothing is available. EVGA is £419 I believe, Founders is £369. £369 given 20% VAT we pay over here is actually inline with the US MSRP of the cards as $399 is before any tax is considered. $399 is roughly £299 at the moment, with 20% on top it makes it roughly £359 which is certainly quite close to £369.
