Hey Linus Media group, 3090

TecZoon

The video RTX 3090 8K Gaming - FIRST in the WORLD, has actually made me loose trust in your productions, I am just a random guy in the internet so you won´t care, why should you? You already have the sponsors, people from this forum hopefully know better than just to believe "8k gamming is real". It saddens me to say I will no longer be a subscriber and when family or friends ask for advice you guys will no longer be an option within my recommendations.

Well, this sucks...

Bye?

Video was great. Shows what you can do. Should you do it, and does it matter? Probably not, but you can and it's cool. That's what many of us watch LTT for, playing with and reporting on the crazy setups most people couldn't play with themselves.

Its a showcase essentially.

They have done a lot of work like this before.

I mean i wouldnt suggest pointing to LTT for advice on a lot of things.

Tho just because someone makes one bad content piece doesnt make all their content worthless.

While i will never point to LTT for benchmarks, they certainly makes entertaining videos and their laptop/smarthphone reviews are top notch.

Also if you are going to stop watching LTT, i guess start watching hardwareunboxed, Gamernexus and AHOC instead.

Are you going to say why this video is so bad you are going to stop watching the channel after this video? It’s nothing more than a showcase of the 3090. They didn’t make it seem like 8k gaming is here and that it is amazing, they were showing off how it is able to easily play games at 8k without having to jump through all the hoops that were required in the past while getting decent enough FPS for many cinematic games.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

In the first second of the video there is very clearly a lower third that says it's sponsored by Nvidia. I am pretty sure Linus made it clear that you need this expensive card in order to play 8k. Not to mention you need an 8k display to benefit. And as others have said, its frankly stupid you'd stop watching an entire channel and recommending them to others because of one video.

Either @piratemonkey or quote me when responding to me. I won't see otherwise

This is the second thread on the exact same thing. The last one was locked, and for a reason.

But it is clear that it is sponsored by Nvidia, but 8k gaming is real. Doom Eternal ran at NATIVE 8K on nightmare, and had one small drop in fps to 57, but was otherwise locked to 60fps. Control ran at "8k", which was up-scaled from 1440p. It had high, RTX on. It was a bit blurry, but it was 8k. Also, LTT has talked about honesty on sponsored videos, where they say that no matter what, they will not skey data for a sponsored video (not a quote, but paraphraise)

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

I'll also point out that Linus wrote the sponsored video, and Anthony Young wrote the review. Anthony most likely never saw the script or video until after he finished the script for the review

I'm sorry that Linus almost made you spend $1500 on a GPU and $68K on a TV before you came to your senses and realized you were being controlled.

Agreed

And furthermore when they tried 8k gaming before it was with 2x 2080ti's (cost about 2300-2400$) and had a pretty crappy experience.

Was this perfect, of course not, 8k is still early.  But a singe card, 1500$, had a somewhat playable experience, and that was not even near possible until now.  And it looked really awesome.  Made me excited to 8k game in like 5-10 years as that will be sick when its a thing.

In 2015 I watched a LTT video on a Samsung 4k monitor. I bought the monitor but my GTX 970 was not capable of playing my modern games at 4k but my old games like Fallout 3 would run at 4k 60. I had lots of fun replaying my old games at 4k and with the GTX 1080 ti that came out in 2017 I could play all my games at 4k.

Last year I watched another LTT video about playing games on an LG OLED TV that had VRR and would eventually do 4k 120hz. I was in the market for a new TV so I bought one. Now I have replaced my gaming monitors with them.

Right now I can buy a 65" 8k TV for $3000. That is $500 less than I paid for my first big screen(55", 1080p) TV in 2006.  I expect that in a year or two LTT will have a video called something like  "Affordable 8k Gaming Now" and with that I will probably buy one.

I am 99% sure I could do 8k 60 in Fallout 3 now even with my 2080 ti. So as soon as there is a 55" version with VRR under $2000 I am getting one. Thanks LTT.

LOL, like it's bad to have the possibility to preview an entertaining video sponsored so they can get view and get the money to make more videos...

I mean sure they should only review product they buy themselves like so many other reviewers do like that they would be totally objective.🙄

You're not going to be able to output it though, need a 30xx card with HDMI 2.1 ...

To be honest I think you're just salty that they're showing off a GPU and a display that you can't afford. Just because you can't afford this set-up doesn't mean someone else can't either, the truth is someone will buy a similar set-up because they have enough money to do so. Now yes, they don't necessarily 'need' it but they 'want' it because they can and that is true for the type of person intrested in such set-up.

Since I use OLED TVs as monitors I will be getting 30 series cards but the goal will be 4k 120hz. 8k will probably be a goal for the 40 series.

If you know a way I can emulate 8k please let me know. I have tried DSR 4x native but I usually get the same frames as 4k with old games like Fallout 3/NV.

Stop crying. LMG is not about being hardcore nerds or policing the tech world. LMG is all about making entertainment videos that relate to tech. Why do you think does Linus have 2 different videos titled "Why 4K is stupid" and "Why you shoul dplay on 4K" or "Why you should not water cool your PC" and "Why water cooling is best"???

Because their aim is to provide entertaining and information, not go full retard on how nerdy and whiny they are.

If you want someone who sees tech as a religion then go watch Steve's channel. His enter 3090 review was just mockery of the 3090.

Ultimately Linus didn't say anything wrong. You can play in 8K with the 3090 if you adjust the settings which he did on video with a sheet of paper. He made it very clear that NVIDIA decided for him at what settings to play unlike that other smartphone guy who made it look like you can play anything in 8K with the card.
