LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Nice, 301. Up 213 places since yesterday. Very kind of Google Cloud to "donate" 8x Tesla T4 to the cause. I just hope the $300 lasts until the end of this!

Yeah, it would take a client update to add COVID-19 to the list.

Also that list doesn't affect WU's/

Prolly not, but it'll be all of the fun babysitting managing those instances while it does.

May sound like a stupid question, but how do I select in the drop-down saying "I support research fighting:  " that I want to support research fighting COVID-19?  It is not in the options

there is no Option for COVID-19. it will run Covid-19 projects most of the time automatically.

This happens from time to time. Add Look farther back in the thread for how to add advanced client-type. its been posted so many times now. You will need to right click on the Folding@home icon and select Advanced control to get into the full program.

I have a couple of VMs set up with 4 cards each, and they are doing around 3.5M PPD so....I make that around 875K PPD per card.

In the same ballpark as a GTX 1080

broke the top 200 today. It's my first time folding since 2015 when I was folding with a i5-3570k and a GTX 770. took about 700 WU to get to my goal of 1 mil points. I got almost 2 mil points today alone. I don't think ill make it to the top 150 but I can dream :)

So each VM is equivalent to 2 P100, interesting.🧐 Looks like that would have been the best way to go then.. each of the P100 that I'm using are 1.3m-1.7m PPD depending on whats being folded.

And considering that a VM with 4 T4 is the same price if not less the just 1 P100...

GTX 770 is still more powerful than any of the graphics cards that I have now :D

I use GTX 960, GTX 760, GTX 660, GTX 470, GT 640 and GT 430. And CPUs that I use are Xeon X5670 6c/12t 4.2GHz, i5-3450 4c/4t 3.7GHz, X5677 4c/8t 3.6GHz, i3-4150 2c/4t and i5-3210M 2c/4t.

Right now I'm not folding with the X5670/GTX960 and i5-3450/GTX760/GT430 because I'm using them for something else, but I'll be folding with them soon.

I've been folding since March 15th and I have a bit over 3.6 million points

Yeah, the range is 3.3M to 3.6M, but on average, around 3.5M. So yeah, more or less the same as 2x P100.

That's the conclusion I came to as well. I played around with a couple of VM configs to see what PPD was like, and then compared it to the $/hr. 4x T4 seemed to be pretty good. The $/hr rate goes up quite steeply for the Tesla *100 cards.

Just broke 1 million points yesterday, yay!

Gotten about 1,300,000 points in 72 hours on the GTX 980Ti I have. Is that respectable? I know this GPU has a lot of CUDA cores...

I think theoretically I could get more points (it says daily (I guess 24hr?) points should be like 900,000), but it is sitting idle some times due to not getting WU's assigned.

I also have a Quadro P1000 but that is almost not worth using, gets only 10% of the points of my GTX 980Ti.

I don't remember filling in any forms, that's the thing. I've been very busy doing all sorts of stuff last week, and really can't remember.
Is the "registration" literally just adding the team ID when installing the folding software?
Can you share the daily stats link? Also please note they are also saying:

Thank you to all who have joined and are folding.
If you have missed the deadline to register for the event you can still fold for the LTT team (# 223518) and help fight Covid-19!

Thanks!

No you had to submit a form with your folding username and forum username since many don't use the same.

Top of the page, green box...

Sure because it's good to fold, but if you didn't register you're not in the event stats or the prize draw. Not what really matters anyway, it's just a little extra excitement :)

Nope. That option stopped working back in 2015 anyway. It was an experiment and they stopped it after 2015.
