My rig refuse to restart now (discovered that after updating windows). The button does nothing and shorting the pin on the mobo does nothing too.

But removing the bios battery and turning the PSU on while shorting the pins on the Mobo works ... Well guess I am not gonna turn it off now

This thing was purchased on march 12, its not even a month old. It most likely had some kind of defect in the pump because i was always able to hear a faint clicking noise (like something is hitting the impeler). The new one is absolutely silent, all i hear is the fans now.

Guess you out of luck (server is so busy atm, I also get this frequently).. But you can try to pause-wait 10 second-unpase trick (dont do this often), reboot system? Try with VPN? Or you can yell at your machine like @GOTSpectrum

This is the real reason there are only a few folding events a year.   Most of our stuff is not server grade and it gets pushed running hot, perhaps even a little overclocked 24/7 for weeks.

I had that not 6 months ago a dead bios bat stopped it from turning on Its so weird

Nah, as long as its not over 95 degree... oh wait... mine run at over 100c 😁  over a week, lets see how long this old lady can survive

Have you tried to create a new instance? It cant be one that was created before the quota increase.

I got a juicy work unit

only problem is I have to pause this at 1:30. I get to restart it at 3:00 but still.

I live in misery USA. my timezone is central daylight time which is either UTC -5 or -4 because the government hates everyone.

I figured it out! Thanks to @Macaw2000's advice. I am deleting the old 4 VMs as they finish the current WUs and replacing them with 6 preemptible VMs! 

 

Gonna be a pain in the A$$ to manage for these last 2 days, but it'll be worth it!

 

Hopefully what remains of my credit can last that long as well

Big ASS dual CPU boards 
MY SR-2 is 2off E5690 and 48GB Ram watercooled sits under 30 at full tilt. (could get 96GB ram in it from what I have read)
SR-X is in geto build so not doing as great. yet to water cool and fill it with ram properly. (think its 128-192GB RAM max)

 planning custom case that the pair will sit in.

The RTX 2060 in my Area 51m  peaks at 69c during the night (Nest thermostat goes into away mode, air temp goes to 26.6c)  Usually keep the place at around 23.3c during the day.

 

Am running fans at performance settings during folding.

 

Funny thing is, I didn't notice the other day but I was running Monster Hunter World and left F@H cranking......I was thinking, man it's hot in here......

This august will be the one year mark of having this system, will need to reapply TIM, likely going liquid metal this time,

 

Went with CoolerMaster Mastergel Maker the first goround.

 

Any suggestions on replacement thermal pads? (fujipoly, etc)

Nice! Folding is an embarrassingly good application for this. You have a non-mission critical workload that is compute intensive. AWS calls it spot, Google calls it preemptible, and Azure calls it Low-priority but all essentially the same thing. Yeah it can be a pain to manage if you don't build some automation but you are on the right track.

I still fall far into N00B territory on this kind of stuff. Once I graduate from college and finish the first year at my job (training year), I plan to start training in the ways of computer wizardry, somehow.
