I feel like that's supposed to be a small GPU WU, not a yuge CPU unit, but that's just me.

My theory, they are rolling our larger and larger units as a way to get around the WU shortage. If every WU take 20% longer thats 20% less calls to the servers

Daaang.  Got myself an absolute unit of a WU here with a 11+ hr time frame 9% into it. 6/16 of my 3700x and most jobs have taken ~4 or less.

I'm jealous! Just crossed 2 million points processing largely small WU's on a 3950X.  Largest WU was 60K and was ecstatic, wish I could pick larger WU's manually.  Apparently it's kinda possible with fahcontrol but it won't install under Ubuntu 19.10 because python_gnome2 is not installed (cannot install it either).  I can only start/stop/restart the client and hope for the best.

simulating 1,2 nanoseconds in 2-3 hours  per WU 😆

No way to specify larger WUs these day FYI

Damn, the supply of WU's has been amazing today. Not having to wait  more then approx. 2 minutes for a GPU WU as soon as i tell my system to FLEX HARD ON THAT COVID MOFO.

Never fails that those 5500 base work units go to one half of the I7 3630QM...usually takes almost the full 24 hours. Logic also dictates that the Radeon RX550 gets the 38800 base units too.

Luckily I got it on the 3700x instead of half the 1700 or this would take the full 24 hours...or close to.  For giggles I compared just under half (6/16) of my 3700x to my old toaster of a 4820k and it beats it by about a quarter more.  Amazing how far CPU architectures can come at times.  My 1700 is more than 2x the total performance, nearly the same single thread rating, and takes half the power.  Came out just under 4 years later.

Possibly, had some driver funk too so I'm DDUing and reinstalling but I dont think HD 7570 is supported.

Checked the logs and it's something about opencl.

Uhmmm... maybe should work with correct drivers, for example the 7560 of my A8-5600K should work, but because its a HD 7560D since the A8 is a APU it just get errors if try to process a WU.

Just FYI to anyone else with an AMD 3950X -- I have folding cranked to full with all CPU's running at 100% and the system (Ubuntu) is still completely usable.  Playing videos, browsing and working and it's fully responsive.  I'm guessing the 3900X would react similarly (no idea if running Windows would handicap performance tho).

I have been surprised at the generational performance increase in the Ryzen line its self, noticeable differences from 1600x-2600x-3800x.

Yeah the 1700 to the 3700x is 40% lower scoring which I'm sure makes Intel jealous considering their piddly 10-15% generational increase up to that point look quaint.  Problem for AMD is maintaining that level of momentum.  We're eeking every IPC and clock extra we can out of silicon at this point and we're getting into physics f#@kery now to keep improving.

AMD chips these days are multi-tasking beasts.  I'd basically expect that out of any 8-core AMD chip from Ryzen on up.

All day long, underclocked and undervolted a bit even (3.8GHz @ 1.2875v) for heat reasons (still 83C in there).

take a look here: http://folding.compson.me/summary.html and you will see what a beast the 3900x is loland the 1700 and the 2600 for that matter (Dont mind the server its only using 6 cores)  all the rest are -3 cores for my 3900 -4 cores for the 1700 to reduce heat. and -2 cores for Bender soon to be -3 or 4 when i get the 2060 that is since ~9:30pm cst last night.
