Synopsis


Mugen is a fierce animal-like warrior with a unique Bboying (break-dance) inspired fighting style. Jin has a more traditional style but don’t think of this as a weakness because his skills are amazing. The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyways. Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don‘t think she doesn‘t have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime.


 


My Opinion


I already know this is good. Add that good ol Nujabes music in this is good stuff.

First!... Well technically I'm second.

I'm going to come back and make a full post when I fully complete the show(I'm on episode 20 right now). So far though I've loved the sowed and there really haven't been too many boring parts or any real times were I find myself wanting to click on a notification on the forum or something. I like fancy but not over the top combat scenes and how interesting the show can be when it breaks away from the traditional historically accurate samurai anime.

"Her tsundere ratio is 8:2. So don't think you could see her dere side so easily."

An anime I've seen. Yes! 

9/10 series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend Sword of the Stranger for those who enjoyed this for a similar, but different movie type thing of this (less comedy, more epic action). 

Still, I consider this one of my first real foray into anime. Thank you Toonami/Adult Swim. :D

I love the way it crosses modern and the samurai eras; I also loved the contrast of the two samurai Mugen and Jin I find it hilarious there's an alcoholic break dancing samurai forced to travel with a calm traditional samurai between the two of them and Fuu I just love our little damsel in distress who gave our main characters the mission of hunting down a mysterious sunflower smelling samurai...  Granted the show has some wtf moments, and is full of historical inaccuracies, it's a pleasant watch and only some of the most educated or weeboos would be able to notice... Over all I find the show nice and am glad it won this week so far most of the animes that have won since I joined just haven't rubbed me the right way....

Saw this anime a few years on Adult Swim when it was popular. It's pretty good. Has nice action and story to carry it through.
