CM Storm Switch Tester Macro MOD

CM Storm Switch Tester Macros MOD

I picked up a CM Storm Switch Tester because I wanted to test out all of the switches to determine which one i liked best. I knew I had a preference for blue or green but I have yet to find green IRL. Needless to say Blues feel very light and I like the little bit heavierness of greens. I have decided to mod the tester to be used as a macro switch. This will serve as a build log as there does not seem to be a proper build log on the internet.

Parts:

  • CM Storm Switch Tester
  • The Six Shooter PCB by Fredrik Atmer
  • Teensy 2.0
  • Resistors
  • 3mm LED

Firmware:

Using the Firmware from here, all you need to do is to go to pjrc.com to download the teensy program and go to arduinos site to download arduino 1.6.5. Once downloaded and installed open teensy program and open the hex file. This is the coding that has been compiled and is ready for use with your teensy. click the button on your teensy to program the teensy with the hex file. Congrats, you are finished. By default the controls are TOP_LEFT: ctrl, TOP_MIDDLE: up, TOP_RIGHT: num lock, BOTTOM_LEFT: left, BOTTOM_MIDDLE: down, BOTTOM_RIGHT: right. The leds scroll across from top right to bottom left. To customize the keys, you can use Easy AVR USB Keyboard Firmware Keymapper. I have not figure it out entirely just yet but if I ever do I will update this to give more clear instructions.

What teensy looks like when you finish programming it. I turned on verbose info so I could see that something actually happened.

yup.I am trying to compile information into one source as people generally dont know how to make good built logs and report their stuff. they just assume that everyone knows what they know and I really dont know anything. so its a learning experience for me and I am just trying to make it simple for others.

Good idea since most things that I have seen around the keyboard community end up being people going I made this you figure out how to use it.
