2080 around 1080 Ti performance and 2080 Ti about 25-30% better than the 1080 Ti.  So, now the fun question is "how much CPU do you need?"

On Linus' video (at 4:51) apparently the CPU is a Coffee lake chip but the motherboard is the Maximus IX Formula. Typing error?

Argh, don't tag me at 1:20am with this...... no sleep today I guess.

Damn Kiwis and your weird time zones. Wolfenstein also really liked it. 2080 Ti over 250 fps at ultra 1440p. That's the power of iDtech as much as anything else.

Watched Paul's review.... I think I'll hold on to my money and invest in a new cpu/mb instead.

2080 non Ti isn't worth it at all, and the Ti is.... well I just don't want to spend that much on a gpu again. not for ~15% improvement.

9900K  / Noctua NH-D15S / Z390 Aorus Master / 32GB DDR4 Vengeance Pro 3200Mhz / eVGA 2080 Ti Black Ed / Morpheus II Core / Meshify C / LG 27UK650-W / PS4 Pro / XBox One X

I can't help but be slightly bummed at the 2080 performance and what it bodes for the 2070.

For Pascal, the 1070 was about the same or slightly faster than the 980 Ti. But in this case, it wasn't an xx70 but an xx80 which was the rough equivalent.

That 2080 Ti is beastmode though. Then again, it should be given that ludicrous pricetag.

The Workhorse (AMD-powered custom desktop)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | GPU: MSI X Trio GeForce RTX 2070S | RAM: XPG Spectrix D60G 32GB DDR4-3200 | Storage: 512GB XPG SX8200P + 2TB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda Compute | OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

The Portable Workstation (Apple MacBook Pro 16" 2021)

SoC: Apple M1 Max (8+2 core CPU w/ 32-core GPU) | RAM: 32GB unified LPDDR5 | Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD | OS: macOS Monterey

The Communicator (Apple iPhone 13 Pro)

SoC: Apple A15 Bionic | RAM: 6GB LPDDR4X | Storage: 128GB internal w/ NVMe controller | Display: 6.1" 2532x1170 "Super Retina XDR" OLED with VRR at up to 120Hz | OS: iOS 15.1

Not only that but the price was bumped up by a lot... So the value of the 2080 is pretty bad considering Pascal is nearly 3 years old now

That's an F in the profile pic

And we come to the problem with the RTX launch. The RTX cards, because of removed memory bottlenecks, see their biggest bumps at 4K. So, right now, this is the "best case" for Nvidia.  1080 Ti is still the card to buy until they run out of supply of them.

No surprise. perf/$ is pretty much the same. I guess I'm holding off for 7nm gpus

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Yeah, honestly, that price bump really dulls the value, especially since the RTX features aren't available yet.

So much for "Just buying it". Because as of now, they're the GTX 2080 and 2080 Ti.

7nm with next generation Architectures will be the big jumps, but that's years off.

They landed where some of us expected, the only question will be the tiers below them. They should see a nice bump in performance per tier, but Nvidia looks like they want people to pay more right now for already available ability.
