Not exactly a very wild day for Intel's stock. 

 

A 1% to 5% move up or down isn't something out of the norm for it. If you look at the intraday movement today it's only down 1.93% which is essentially just another standard trading day's price fluctuation.

If you look at the daily chart for Intel(INTC) it's still within the Ichimoku Cloud(green and red color fill in) support and hasn't broke support, hasn't broken below the low it had 2 days back either. Until it breaks the bottom line on the cloud it doesn't have a solid downtrend signal.

Intel has to get their manufacturing group under control. Even if it means cleaning out most of the upper management. 10nm isn't going to work under the 3rd revision, with a completely reworked metal layer.

 

It's pretty obvious, now, that 10nm & 10nm+ should have been cancelled, Icelake ported to 14nm+++ and 10nm++ funded with all of 10nm/10nm+'s money & development staff.

The tech sector of the stock market is where some of the most high volume stocks are, companies like Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Oracle, Micron, and etc. get nailed with news similar to this all the time, and after seeing this sorta thing happen a couple of hundred times you tend to know what'll happen to the stock price.

The term "Insider Trading" is essentially legally meaningless (15 USC 78J), what that accusation should be is "Securities Fraud", for more detailed information you'd have to look at 17 CFR 240.10b5-1. The prosecutor would have to provide "Proof beyond a reasonable doubt of every fact necessary to constitute the crime with which he is charged" (refer to re Winship). 

 

I doubt they'll get the CEO for Securities Fraud but if they do manage to, then he could be fined up to 5 million dollars, or 20 years in prison, possibly both (refer to 15 USC 78ff).

 

If he is prosecuted, him resigning and leaving isn't going to help cloud the case against him in court anyway.

I have seen two people in a relationship at work fight and that can be awkward for sure. But that is an outlier 

I know alot of companies that have a sort of don't ask don't tell policy. It's ok as long as the relationship is kept out of the workplace. I mean if they had to investigate to find this out I have no idea what the issue is? Yeah I know there is the thing where if they have control over your job it can cause issues in a relationship and make it less than consensual. I mean they found that is was though so it doesn't make sense to me.

It really wouldn't be that big of a deal if the company didn't have a policy against relationships of the sort, but because Intel does seem to have such a policy it's now in the news.

If he was going to get charged I would think they would have already brought charges against him.

CEOs (really anyone) being forced to resign because of a consensual relationship over fears of one of them crying sexual harrasment or "preferential treatment".

This totally seems like a healthy society, I don't see a problem here at all
