It can do, folding projects are held in system memory, so more bandwidth can help in some situations

Time to slap CCL for some RAM then!

Unless anyone's got any DDR2 lying around? :E

I just read some interesting stuff about open source science with pro bono scientists -- shooting for the moon, so to speak -- working for a COVID-19 antiviral. They have a GoFundMe with a measly $2 million goal. I thought to myself...

What if all of LTT saw this?

So I'm sharing the F@H link, the YouTube video that explains it all, and the actual GoFundMe fundraiser. Maybe one new guy from Amish Country can make a difference... 🥰

@leadeater Actually it really doesn't matter. Even with all the CPU power I have it doesn't compare to the racks at your disposal. What I do in a year you'll do in a month. No point in trying to stay on-top of you.

Yea but you can play the long term game, I can't so it's not as fruitless as you might think. I am currently looking at residential vertical wind turbines atm though.

I can say stuff like that can knock the edge off but it won't pay for itself when you have servers pulling 300, 400, 500 watts a piece.

Still chugging along with the P106 in the basement, need to get the time to screw with Manjaro for the RX580 to run, anyone know if it can handle having BOTH AMD and Nvidia drivers installed and running at the same time and if undervolting is fairly easy for AMD cards with Manjaro?

So I've found that despite being pretty evenly matched in PPD on paper earlier this year something has changed and the RX580 was averaging a solid 100-150k PPD higher than the P106, that's not a small amount of difference. The P106 does just under 500,000 on average and the RX 580 does more like 600,000-650,000 PPD. I'm not sure if it's because the 580 has more memory on board or if it's just stronger at compute or the recent AMD drivers have gotten better.

Still hanging on around 1,100th place with about 55 million.

Solar does a decent job but doesn't do jack in winter so looking to blend so I get more than nothing in winter 🙂

.

Wind is really good here so a 600W-2000W turbine should do nicely, peak output of my solar is only 2kw and wind blows all day here so who know, might work out really well or be terrible lol.

Installers misunderstand your request. Install a fan outside that draws 2000W from your house. :D

The only one I've been getting in that range is project 13408. I've had 1 bad work unit that failed right away and 1 that for some reason took twice aslong as all the others. All other WUs have returned around 1.1M PPD which is normal.
