What GPU do you have now? You can probably pair a pretty fast GPU without a issue. I'd feel fine going 4070ti Super class card with that CPU without a big impact. 11th gen isn't that much faster in games, so probably not worth the upgrade.

Well obviously if those are your two options get the 7800xt. What is your budget? Is this only for games?

not necisarily my options, just thionking about them. i dont really want to spend more than the cost of the 7800xt, i think it is 600 cad. i just wanted to know if the 10500 would bottleneck a good 1440p gpu.

The higher the resolution the less chance of a cpu bottlenecking.

the i5 10500 is a 6C/12T CPU which is more than sufficient for most, if not all, modern games, especially when OCed, but even at its stock 4.5GHz max turbo boost clock, it should hold up well. When you game at higher res than 1080P, especially 1440P (be it 2560x1440, or 3440x1440), and depending on the ingame settings, the higher you set it, the more stress is on the GPU, so the CPU being a bottleneck is less of a factor.

The lowest price I can find on both Amazon Ca and Best Buy Ca is this Sapphire Pulse RX 7800 XT model:

https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/sapphire-11330-02-20g-pulse-amd-radeon-rx-7800-xt-gaming-graphics-card-with-16gb-gddr6-amd-rdna-3/17724626

It's a relatively powerful card and good value considering it can run most modern games at 1080P/1440P at reasonably high setting, plus it doesn't hurt that it has 16GB of VRAM to leverage in mostly AAA games that chew up VRAM.
