Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Nothing weird today, just a normal Jeep 3.7 with a collapsed lifter and dislodged rocker arm, a 95 Buick Century with no idle that we're mostly sure needs a PCM, and a new(ish) Jeep Cherokee (the ugly new ones) that we're pretty sure someone buttfucked when they jumped it backwards. It won't go into park, it won't come out of park, it won't turn off because it's not in park, it won't move in gear, etc. Left the battery disconnected overnight and I'll see if it's fucked in the morning.

Dial or digi shifter? Probably rekt the TCM or if it has a shifter control module.

Its warranty AC season again...

Accords suck to do condensers on. I can do civics without pulling the bumper all the way off. This thing was ridiculous and it didn't even have the shutter grilles that the 2.0 has.

Neither, it's the normal stick. Not the fancy one, thankfully. But yeah probably fucked the TCM. 94,000 miles so I guess it's probably like a 2017  maybe, I guess new is relative when we have a 57 Chevy in the shop we're also working on. For us/our area 2017 is still new lol.

what are the risks at buying a newer V8 Mustang? i´m here in Denmark, since getting my awfull Tesla model 3LR, i guess i could live with more "poor" assembly work.. i guess i am a masochist.

so i found a couple of Mustang V8 Bullits at a danish dealership with 20k km on them each, so leasing cars (1 lease owners) i was looking into exchanging my Polo GTI 2019 for one of these.. just tro try a V8 before it is completely over..

the V8 in the mustang, the driveline, is that a robust driveline, it is not getting tuned or "worked on" but it might have had a semi hard life, as a leased car.. or it might not..

anyone smart that buys a brand new car will be buying it as at least a 10 year investment and keep a good service record. Make sure you see the service record. New-ish cars being sold so soon may be cars bought on finance and they may have skipped a service or two.

i know. but the pricedifference is ABSURD, a new V8 mustang is 800.000 these are 400ish.

they are fully service, since it is not finance sold, but through leasing, so the cars are fully maintained, and a 2019 i still within warrenty as i see it.

I don´t see it as an investment, just a full write off, as i see the Polo GTI, it´s never going to get worth more, i will drive it maybe 4 years, and then from my point of view, then it has 0 dkkr in value, i know it has a value, but that how i financially think about it.

4 years maybe 40-60k km more on to the odometer. it is a luxury use item nothing more.

popularity of these american "muscle" cars in europe are low. and yes there are a classic scene, and that is it. but that is 60´s cars mostly.

My fiancée just replaced her 2005 Toyota Camry with a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid.

We've had it since last Wednesday and so far so good. The car can operate fully on the battery for at least some scenarios (usually cruising and gentle low speed acceleration). It’ll even run off the battery at 100km/h when cruising.

The regenerative braking is very much non intrusive (I’ve heard a lot of people find the pd feel very different).

It has Bluetooth but oddly enough that’s ONLY for hands free calling. You can connect a phone or music player with a 3.5mm aux cable.

It has some quirks we are still getting used to, such as the blinker is a toggle (you depress it and it goes back to neutral rather than locks into position). Not a problem when making normal large turns as it’ll reset after you return the steering wheel to neutral, but it can be a little jarring when using it to change lanes.

Given the age, I'd say it could be first-gen SYNC or MyFord Touch (but it had to be an early unit). Both can actually play back music over Bluetooth, so I have no idea why doesn't work for her.

Should be first gen SYNC afaik, I drive an '11 Ford, don't have that kind of issue. I wouldn't expect Ford to segment the radio systems this much either.

Ed Bolian, entrepreneur of VinWiki and previous Cannonball run record holder, goes to my church. I just figured this out a week ago. Ive talked to him before, not knowing the legend behind the man. I know his kids. He's been there, all this time, and I had no idea. I saw him drive his fancy cars before, but just thought nothing of it. Ive always just known him as "Ed", nothing else. I recently saw his picture in some article, and went down the rabbit hole. Ive known this guy for years and had no idea he was kind of a big name in cars. Smh im kinda dumb

I've been trying to get a clean E30 or E36 for the last 4 years, but they were either expensive as hell or in very poor condition. I wanted an E30 coupé but the 316i were already at 5.000€ and the 318is were for 8.000€ at least, so I switched to the E36, which was heavier but at least the 325i was a bit cheaper. There were almost none in good condition.

Instead went for an E91 325i which I took care of really well, but it's not the same. This sunday I might be able to change my E91 325i for an E30 325ix with 90k km, which is amazing because even the ones with 200k km starts at 10.000€ in poor condition.

Hope I can say goodbye to my baby

And say hello to something I've been looking forward for many years. And it's not just a 18is nor a 23i, but a 25ix.

That is quite the trade! Hope it goes through alright

both great cars, but im glad you are doing the upgrade to the E30 😂
Unfortunately i want an E30 my self, but no way in hell i can find one thats worth it for me right now, as E30s rarely exist that are not getting parted out and E36s are rusted to bits and mangled by sliding into walls and trees. Do plan on evnetually taking one E30 as a project when i get enough money to restore one

I'd leave him alone at church other that saying hi and nice car or something mundane. If you know the kids better you could tell them how dumb you feel, they'd probably get a laugh.

*shrugs* if you have any suggestions on how to get it working, I'm all ears. It's definitely a Microsoft Sync system - I don't know what generation.

I am able to pair a phone via bluetooth, however, none of the options on the Infotainment System appear to activate Bluetooth music.

When you press the "MEDIA" button on the Infotainment system, it activates the Line-in 3.5mm AUX connection.

The model we have has the smaller screen and no SatNav. This is it here:

2013-Ford-Fusion-stereo_8538_057_640x480

Pressing the Music Note button allows you to adjust Treble, bass, etc. The "PHONE" button seems to be limited to Bluetooth calling.

When connecting Bluetooth and playing music via the phone, none of the different options seem to pipe the music through the speakers.

There are tons in Eastern Europe, sure you could easily get an E30 and another engine separatedly for an awesome project! Those engines are really easy to restore, I'd like to get my hands on a M42 and make a stroker (M47 crankshaft, M54 pistons and rods), those engines are cheap here, the only major issue would be tuning the ECU

youd be surprised i guess... most of them are already freshly restored/ rebuilt or so far gone that they work only as scrap ... IF you can find any
id go to Germany for one tbh
Plus id go for an M50B30 build ... maybe add a tiny snail later on

is that a revulcanized tire, since it gives way like that..

never seen that, seen tires dying in the carcass after 40k but never delamination like that, other than on lorries on the freeway where they throw the full thread .. which is dangerous as f... but guess "price" is more important that other drivers.

If I remember correctly because it's been a hot minute, for me I have to click the Menu button and scroll with the Tune knob to Bluetooth Audio and hit Ok. That's after the phone is paired to the truck, of course. But then any media I play on my phone will go through the truck's speakers.

Nope, just a regular tire on a Chevy 2500 van. Tire was from about 2014 though so getting old. Looks like a steel belt inside broke and that's what happens.

Don't think they're driving a 2012 Chevy Express 4.8L reefer van hectic, and this was the rear so no alignment issue. Just a bad tire that went really bad really fast. It's supposed to have E load rating tires on it so now it's at least got a pair of the correct load rating tires in the rear. I don't think they load it up heavy, more about needing the space for food/food equipment.
