Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

@JoaoPRSousa do you think the 2.0L is better for a Miata? Or the 1.5?

They only offer the 2.0L here in the US because muricans love torque too much. (Not that those cars sell well here anyway)

but ive always wondered how the 1.5 is? I feel like the 2.0L is perfect because I’d want it to be faster than previous models... not just “as fast” with smaller engine.

but maybe the 1.5 is fine. Dunno. I think boost is the right way to go about it, but £6000 is waaaay too much “investment” for that lol

Na man, Jag V6 is the best way to go :P Otherwise a Ford Duratect 2.0 out of the ST150, such a great motor, tunes up to 210Bhp still Na and then even more room once you turbo. but i'd rather find a written off Fiesta ST. See everything off except the engine hell the seats alone will sell quickly to some Fiesta stance boi and then enjoy that 1.6T with aftermarket Engine management.

The 1.5 is pretty nice. My brother once drove one (I was shotgun, obvs), and it felt pretty powerful. Of course it only has 130hp, but it's enough. He told me the handling was very very precise (not engine related, but still). The heavier front engine could probably affect that a bit, idk. Oh, BTW, my brother beat that engine like a fucking mad man (it had 600Kms on the clock, poor thing) and it didn't consume that much petrol (a plus from the higher compression). He floored it and the numbers wouldn't even go that high, it was pretty impressive.

If the 2L is better? IDK, maybe? It only offers 30 more horsepower for half a liter more, so, not really worth it in my opinion... Yes it does also offer more torque, but the car is already pretty light anyway, you don't really need that much to make it go.

I don't think I'd boost a 1.5 because of the stock high compression (14.0), could be a bit of a pain in the rear, idk

Yep. Pretty sure all 4 tires on that machine were fluid-filled. They used to use calcium, but not sure if that's still what they use today. Fluid also can't compress, so you get a lot less tire deformation as well. ;)

the oddest thing happened yesterday...

i went right past a cop doing 78(125kph) in the 70(112 kph)... and nothing happened.

odd because i was driving that fast... i blame the lack of sense of speed in my dad's car compared to the miata.. but like really in the miata people always complain when they follow me that i drive too slow sometimes lol.. everywhere you go you feel like you're doing 100 mph lol

and also odd that i didn't get pulled over? was it because i didn't make myself look guilty by slowing down after i passed him? was i just lucky enough that he didn't have his radar thing on at the time? ill never know...

Usually the rule of thumb is 9 over is when they start to actually pull people over unless you get a cop that's very strict. It's usually because tickets under that amount aernt a big deal and either result in smaller fines or penalties and aernt worth the hassle for both the officer or person. (also better grounds for the person to fight since "RADAR WASNT CALIBRATED"

When i got pulled over in ohio i was doing 71.5 in a 70.

Used my signal and changed lanes into the right lane after passing a semi, right in front of an officer sitting in the emergency vehicle turnout.

About 7 min later hes slowly rollling up on us, pulls us over after matching our speed.

Once we'er on the shoulder he says that he pulled us over for speeding, too quick of a lane change, and no turn signal. However because he didnt have his radar on, he can't write me a ticket.

So i was speeding, by an ammount that you wouldn't have done shit about, that wouldn't even register on the speedometer (my 71.5 number came from the GPS ticking between 71 and 72 every 5-10 seconds) and then you mention the turn signal, that you would not have been able to see anyway because the signal was on the far side of the car from where you ovserved us commiting the violation.

The lane change being too quick, maybe. I didnt cut off the semi. I could see the whole cab framed by my mirror. How long do you want me to take crossing over the line? I'm trying to get out of the way oof the people behind me that want to do 75-76-80 but i'm not going to speed up because i dont want to get a speeding ticket. If the cop didnt know how fast i was going, i sure as hell ain't gonna tell him.

that i blame because you were from really far out of town and he was just curious.

happened to me and matt in texas. pulled over for "not speeding" speeding at 3 am in the middle of nowhere lol

78 in a 70 is nothing. (mph I know, but still).

Around here you can get away with +15kph over in 80 zones, sometimes 20 even. On the highways where the limit is 100kph, traffic often flows at 120+, even in the slow lanes, and 130 or so in the left lanes. I have driven PAST cops on the highway going 110-115 and nothing. The limits are very inconsistently enforced around here and it drives me crazy because you get people driving at very different speeds on the same roads because of this. This, to me, creates a more dangerous situation. But I digress, lol.

If you only go shopping on the weekends, that would make some sense. Fuel bills on the other hand...

the oddest thing happened yesterday...

i went right past a cop doing 78(125kph) in the 70(112 kph)... and nothing happened.

odd because i was driving that fast... i blame the lack of sense of speed in my dad's car compared to the miata.. but like really in the miata people always complain when they follow me that i drive too slow sometimes lol.. everywhere you go you feel like you're doing 100 mph lol

and also odd that i didn't get pulled over? was it because i didn't make myself look guilty by slowing down after i passed him? was i just lucky enough that he didn't have his radar thing on at the time? ill never know...

The general rule of thumb around here is that they wont stop you for <10mph over the limit.

Then again I got a verbal warning for 75mph in a 55mph zone, and a ticket for 39mph in a 35mph zone. I guess sometimes you just find a cop who's pissed at the world. haha
