Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

When I had my Corolla I didn't care one bit about that stuff. Though it wasn't that bad for mine I guess.

But I also went flying down gravel roads at 80 mph in that car like it was a rally stage. Now I only did that a couple of times but omg that car was so fun on gravel xD

Yeah, but my car is black, and I really like it looking good. I use the four wheeler for bombing down gravel roads at 60 mph and drifting around corners.

What I don't get is that in racing sometimes you're just forced to downshift to first... Actually maybe not. I mean even autocross which is about as tight as it gets I stay in second in the Miata.. And now that I think about it when driving the only time I need to get into first is after I stop. But I like to be quick when I'm driving sometimes (esp in town). I'm just used to being in an auto where I could stop or almost stop and then almost floor it and the car just goes, guess you can't do that with a manual because of the "you can't shift into first without stopping" issue.

also for autocross starts I tend to rev it up to about 3k or so rpm and let go of the clutch really quickly. I feel like I shouldn't do that. Makes the tires chirp and it just feels unecessary. Even shifting to second I'll make the tires chirp -- I've seen people do that in videos before but to me it just feels wrong like you shouldn't do that.

Tires breaking loose is a good thing with an OE clutch. Less strain on the springs in the clutch. If you dump it too many times those springs will grenade.

Speaking of the four wheeler, I adjusted the chain the other day, and it was about 2 inches too loose! It was enough to make a noticeable difference in acceleration.

Ah. Is there something better than dumping though that I could do... I mean it's just autocross so the starting line is some distance away from where you actually start. Perhaps I should just do a somewhat aggressive normal launch because it doesn't matter too much?

Its what I would do. Breaking loose for a second is good vs bogging down then recovering. On my car I just rev up to like 3.5k and quickly but evenly release the clutch and it'll roast the fronts.

Only because it's one of their crappy models. I have a Dual too, but it's the higher end XDM460 model (looks identical though, so he probably didn't know when he bought his). Puts out 22W RMS per channel which is obviously lot more than the 260 and actually more than most brand name decks. Just by ear I notice the improvement compared to my old Pioneer deck as well.

But come on, FIVE watts per channel? Most small portable Bluetooth speakers put out more.

NOOOOOO NVAUTO IS RETIRING THE SUPARU. They're keeping the car as a demo car but the chassis is getting a bit tired after a few wall taps, and they're swapping over to a 2JZ ZC6 to stay competitive. It'll make Riley's job of driving a lot easier though.

They got some technical assistance from Pat Cyr who currently runs a 2JZ ZN6.

The build is pretty neat tho and I'll definitely be following it closely!

Ngl, I kinda like it. Wouldn't pay 2.7 for it tho. Maybe 350k at the most.

So Audi wants to start using electric regenerative dampers:

It's not a dumb idea, similar to tidal electrical production, but the 48V electrical system will complicate things a bit.
