(Mini News) Office 365 Price Change

Quote

Effective October 11th 2017, the annual price of Office 365 Personal purchased directly from Microsoft in Canada will change from CAD $69.00 to CAD $79.00

So Microsoft is bumping the OneDrive/Office 365 package price from $70 to $80 per year, at least in Canada.  While I would of course prefer that they didn't do this, it is still the cheapest good cloud storage I'm aware of, and that's not even counting the fact you also get Office with it, so this is probably fine.

I'm curious, does anyone know of changes to the pricing in other countries?

Das some bullshit. I don´t know about Mexico, since I get 365 for free in my uni.

Edit: after a bit of investigation, the price of 365 increased from 1000 pesos (56 usd) to 1300 pesos (71 usd) in Mexico.

What the hell kind of notice is "effective immediately" anyways?  Is MS Canada shooting from the hip on this?

It's 1 TB for $70 (well $80 now) per year for one person or $90 (iirc... That might be $100 now) for 5 users to each have 1 TB per person.  Looks like the apple plan is 2 TB for $120/year?

I think there was an email earlier iirc but I didn't post about that.  Also you only pay the new price on your next bill, it's not like they start charging you more right away

I have heard of that but I also heard how the app works, hence my qualifier "good" cloud storage

most places charge insane prices for the low storage options so that's good to see from apple.  That said if I stopped paying I'd still get 30 GB free on OneDrive :P 15 from the old free plan (was cut down to 5 when they had the whole "unlimited" fiasco) and 15 from the camera roll bonus.

I have only filled half of that 50GB xD If I ever want more that $2 extra dollars for an extra 150GB isn't that bad either.

US Pricing is $70/yr for Personal

Only in Canada I'm assuming. Maybe because 1 CAD = 0.80 USD.

I get the office 365 bundle for free, since I go to a school which provides free programs, I basically go to the schools portal and download office for free, it includes powerpoint, excel, word, publisher and one note. With my laptop, I get free 25GB of dropbox storage.

I agree.  Apparently naming schemes are hard.

Price increase if fine if they continue to update as often as old office versions so you aren't just paying yearly for the same thing.

You pay for a year licence every year. There are 365 days in a year. ~365.25 if you want to be technical.
