unfortuantly I don't think ATi has the tech to beat the top GTX's but they will be our saviors as they will smash the 1070/1060 at half the price.

So the only way to hold NVidia's feet to the fire for the XP...or Xp or whatever the frak the new Titan is is if they came out and promised Titan XPascal would be king of the hill for XX amount of time? I'd be pretty pissed if I had paid 1200 dollars for a card only to have a card 500 dollars less in less then a year stomp it then 2 months later have a new card released for the same price that obliterates it. What's the point of spending money to have the top card if a few months later the prices are going to get dumped?

If I'm investing 1200 dollars in a GPU I'd expect it to last as the top dog more then a few months and certainly not get beaten out by a 700 dollar card only to have another carrot dangled a couple of months later for... 1200 dollars.

Well, I would say you're buying something for the wrong reasons then.

Just look at the previous generation cards: The Titan X Maxwell came out, then they released the 980 Ti

The Titan X Maxwell came out on March 17th, 2015. The 980 Ti came out on June 2, 2015.

If someone is the kind of person that wants to buy "the best", they have to realize that the best is like doing heroin, you're always chasing the high.

That's fine if they have lots of money and don't care. But if you don't have lots of money, and a $1200 Titan X Pascal is a huge purchase, then you should understand that there's no guarantees that NVIDIA won't drop a 1080 Ti or a revised Titan X (similar to the original Titan, then 780 Ti, then Titan Black).

NVIDIA has literally done this exact same thing before. Don't know why people were surprised, really. TWICE if you consider the original Titan X and the 980 Ti.

Is it scummy? Maybe. Maybe not. But a person who gets mad because their card isn't the best anymore? That's naive at best. A Titan X Pascal still performs the same as it did the day before the 1080 Ti came out as it did the day after. Same goes with Titan Xp.

When the Titan X Pascal came out, people assumed the 1080 Ti would follow eventually. In fact, if anything, the 1080 Ti took a lot longer than expected to show up (Due to no reason, really, since AMD was stuck topped out at RX480).

This information was all known and public knowledge. We knew GP102 wasn't fully unlocked. We know that there's another "big baddie" still unreleased, in the form of GP100 that could drop at any time (though I personally doubt they'll bother at this point, unless forced to by VEGA).

This should not be a surprise to anyone.

I think the naming scheme is stupid. Which I've said multiple times.

This anyone can agree on.

If they had called it something else (Titan XP Pro, for example), I would not have been mad.

If this thing STILL doesn't have double precision, it's the most expensive "fuck you" I've ever seen a company give to their customers who pay up big money for products. Just a massive fucking middle finger to everyone to bought the first Titan X (Pascal)

So you would rather Nvidia continue selling a cut down GP102 chip for $1200 when they could sell a full GP102 for the same price? Yeah, how dare Nvidia try to make the Titan better.

Hmm, unlike full Pascal it doesn't have HBM2 either.

Man, people thought I was mad when I said they could release a new "Titan Black", yet here it is.

I love how they're comparing it to Titan X ( Maxwell ) LOL. Sneaky buggers. Most people will think it means the current Titan X.

You know, maybe nVidia is trying to screw over anyone that buys a Titan X second hand from people that watercooled the cards. Purchasing a watercooled Titan X with no reference cooler will completely confuse people about which of the 3 Titan X's they are buying (and I'm calling it now, a lot of fraudulent sales will be made).

Now I know better, not to buy a Titan X Volta, wait for the Titan Xv that comes after the GTX 2080ti

Hopefully it will be 1180ti instead of 2080ti. If the digit in the hundreds place is constantly being 0 for 10 generations will feel like someone scratching their nails on a chalkboard every time I read that for a for freaking decade!

Wait a minute, if people like the GTX 11xx(ti), GTX 12xx(ti), etc. naming scheme nVidia will kick us in the face and purposefully go with GTX 20xx(ti), GTX 30xx(ti), etc., so scratch that. Everyone in the forum PLEASE start and keep calling Volta the GTX 20xx(ti) series to fool nVidia!

Yeah, to make sure nobody confused a Pascal Titan X with the original Titan XM or even just the original original Kepler Titan. Now you have two Titan Xp's with different core count and memory speeds.

This thing is the 1060 6GB of Titan Xp's, with the Titan XP being the 1060 3GB.

Don't forget nVidia is releasing new models of the 1060 and 1080 with faster memory!

Such a dumb fucking argument.

Sure lets just stop advancing in technology and never make anything better overtime so that way cry babies can always have their stuff be the best. No one should bitch that their card that is almost a year old is now beat by the next model.

That wasn't his argument at all...

P.S. Releasing something to the public that is almost no improvement over the previous model 9 months after the original release is not "advancing technology." It's advancing profits. nVidia knows people that whant the biggest epeen will blow their life savings on this GPU.

I'm not against nVidia making money either. It's not like they are forcing consumers to buy titans or anything since the transaction a mutually accepted by both parties, but I do fear that they will use this money to crush AMD as competition and eventually have a monopoly of the GPU market. That really would not be a good thing for anyone building PCs. It would inflate the prices of all their GPUs.

The argument that current X(p) owners are having that they got fucked over because they bought for status and now their toy is not the best.

But lots of people did buy for status... and they're pissed. Check out @Princess Cadence's posts. Whether or not buying for status (aka big epenis) is a good or bad idea is really up to the consumer It could be an argument, however, @SpaceGhostC2C was analyzing the reactions from both sides of the Titan buyers coin, not making an argument one way or the other.
