Youtuber delidding amd ryzen 1700 - Worth the risk for better temps?

So check out the clip

Personally i dont think i want to take the risks... due to the pin's... but if you could make it have lower temps fairly easy.. maybe a delid kit for AMD comming ?? then MAYBE i would.. but just maybe..

What u guys think?

btw.. the Chip/die looks pretty nice i think

AMD has used a soldered IHS since...like day 0... (or just bare die back in the ol' days).

But we know one thing for sure -- the die is rectangular, and not square-ish.

Oh gawd...I want to keep my i7-6800K, but I want a 'Zen' system too...but I don't want to get rid of my FX-8350 yet...ughh...why?!

I'm trying to swing a Ryzen setup and grab a ES high core count Xeon for my X99 system. The pain of being an enthusiast haha.

looks like AMD glued together two CPUs ... hmm O.o

Are they like sets? 4 cores 8 threads on one and 4 cores 8 threads on the other, then combined? That is super interesting... It's like AMD's 295x2. Lol.

Unless you're running something like Prime95 24/7, I don't see a point in delidding any processor for cooling performance.

Well if you want to tap every FPS with your mad OC...

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

If I wanted more performance, I would lower all of the graphical quality options except resolution.

And don't want to compromise quality because you can get extra performance out of your system.

how many frames do you need to gain before you consider it worth it? Would you delid a brand new CPU for 1 fps gain on average on games that aren't GPU bottlenecked?

(assuming the CPU isn't soldered, which it is in this case so it's kind of a moot point)

It has been shown that delidding can lower your temps by 20C+, so if you were running a heavy OC that would help far more than 1 FPS.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Omg, i want a CPU wafer framed too!!

How much would an I5-4670 wafer cost :3? My 1st cpu deserves some recognition xD.

I got a silicon wafer from ebay a while ago, I have it on my TV stand. There's tons of them out there ranging from about $30 to hundreds of dollars.

- ASUS X99 Deluxe - i7 5820k - Nvidia GTX 1080ti SLi - 4x4GB EVGA SSC 2800mhz DDR4 - Samsung SM951 500 - 2x Samsung 850 EVO 512 -

- EK Supremacy EVO CPU Block - EK FC 1080 GPU Blocks - EK XRES 100 DDC - EK Coolstream XE 360 - EK Coolstream XE 240 -

I presume the wafers dont have a history background indicating theyr purposed CPU's, the hundreds of dollars one? I just did a search on Ebay and the most expensive ive seen was 80$, but they never state theyr manufacturers or intended purposes. Makes me wonder if they are all old pentium intended wafers xD.
