It will start as a somewhat reasonable law to combat child pornography, but will expand well beyond that scope in short order.  I see a transition from stop child porn on Twitter to stop porn on Twitter to stop just about anything person X says is not correct to say or show on Twitter.  The moment they outlaw food or cats on Twitter, it's over.  Shut down the internet.

 

Believe posting tweets on Twitter constitutes publication, and there are already laws against publishing child pornography (even the possession of such is illegal in most places).

As we know kids can be amazingly creative, just a fact.

And they are very curious, also a fact. (yeah throwing dem facts around boi :D)

Anyway, if there is something that blocks them on the internet, they tend to be stupidly patient and stubborn by mashing and messing around until they somehow find a way through. It's like saying to a kid "don't touch that". Everyone knows that's exactly what they are going to do

 

If a website says "you can't access this" it better be prepared for it!

 

Also, let's say a kid is at home, nothing special, parents aren't around for whatever reason (to the shops or something), mashing on the computer and suddenly it asks for an ID.

 

Again, kids being creative and remembering sometimes more than we realise, might know where the wallet of mommy or daddy is, with an ID.

Oh, and i have another brainwave!  

Let's say a kid is mashing around, and stumbles on a website that requires an ID, kid can't figure it out but as we know, they are stupidly curious sometimes.

Next day, kid is at school and telling his/her friends about this "mysterious website" and suddenly you have a bunch of kids mashing around on the website trying to figure it out, of course whoever figures it out will be seen as a "cool person" for a while or whatever the kids decide he/she is.

 

In the end it's possible kids are looking at titties and whatever with their parents' ID not giving a single f*ck about what they did while the parents are panicking like a maniac.

I suppose the problem here is censorship rather than not being able to access porn (let's be honest, you hardly need twitter to get all the porn you want from the internet - and either way I wouldn't consider it a prime necessity).

Lots of reasons why they might want to do all of these things. 

People in power often want more power, and telling people what they can and can't do is a real show of power. 

 

Also once the system is in place it will be very easy to extend it to other areas as well. It might start with porn because a lot of people aren't interested (or at the very least pretend to not be interested because it is so taboo) so there won't be an uproar. Then they might extend it to other areas like extremeist politics like nazism. Then to regular politics. Then it might end with you having to sign in to the Internet to do anything. 

That would make it extremely easy to track you.

People aren't upset because they will no longer be able to watch porn on Twitter. People are upset because the UK is creating both a legal system and the infrastructure to replicate the widely used Internet censorship that exists in China.

Now they have not only passed passed the law (it is called the digital economy bill 2016-17 and it has been approved), it is not opt-out (the law is that sites need to use a system which can link each visitor to an individual person through for example the use of a social security number) and the infrastructure for this nation wide censoring filter is in place. Anyone who does not comply will be punished (both websites and ISPs can be punished).

 

And if you don't think this is bad because you trust the UK government, I recommend you read though the links I posted earlier, and read up on the "Investigatory Powers Act 2016" which has also passed and will come into effect. If you are wondering what that bill is about, it's to give the UK government the same kind of mass surveillance powers as Russia and China has.

 

And if you think that the investigatory power act isn't a big deal, it is big enough for politician to have it written into the law that it does not apply to them. They genuinely think that the law they passed is so bad, that they only agreed to pass it when it applied to all UK citizens except themselves.
