Nvidia disguises more Gameworks for fallout 4 by announcing it as an official mod....

I present to you Vault 1080!(rip Amd gpu)

Think the end of the world can't get any worse? Then NVIDIA's high-quality Fallout 4 mod has some bad news - turns out that adding super-advanced lighting and shadows to a thermonuclear Wasteland just makes it scarier, moodier, and more dangerous than ever.

So? there is no reason to complain it's a mod as in not part of the base game, and tbh the lighting affects seem decent.

If its an Nvidia mod I'm fine with gameworks being added.

How does it run on a 1070?

I shouldn't have issues, considering that I know that my GTX 970 can handle FO4 at max settings 2x 1080p DSR (except godrays - those get set to high, despite making the edge of some objects+shadows going blocky as a result)

Yeah I don't see any problem with this. If anything it's a nice service for Nvidia customers that doesn't penalize AMD customers(as they wouldn't have been able to benefit from it without the mod existing either).

But its a mod, its not part of the game. I wouldnt be surprised if AMD gets on this though

Does it add the effects to the overall game though?

If not one can safetly ignore it, making this quite a shitty click-bait thread title.

Awesome. I'll definitely give this a closer look when it becomes available. Hopefully it runs okay with ENB.

Yes, adding additional graphics effects will put more strain on the GPU. Given that this is an optional add-on, I see nothing bad about it. There is no "disguising" or any other kind of dishonest activity going on here. AMD is more than welcome to create their own mod using whatever technology they wish.

Actually this looks amazeballs... Sadly I do expect the performance hit on before Maxwell cards to be crazy... (one of the "minor" additions to maxwell was much more efficient lighting rendering pathways). And this is where some of the voxel optimizations of Pascal will really show through...

I might buy FO4 a few months from now and try it out once mods make it looks good across the board (and hopefully fix the abhorrently bad lip sync).

It would be absolutely amazing imho if Nvidia (or AMD) made significant (optional) mods available to games incorporating Gameworks and OpenGPU. That would be so great... Skyrim with PureHair or Hairworks?!? OMG

This seems like a better way of doing it IMO... AMD people don't need to worry about Gameworks screwing their performance and Nvidia users can enjoy the extra effects (if they want to). I'd much rather have this than being stuck with Gameworks. I appreciate Nvidia for doing this. It's a win-win for everyone. Thanks Nvidia!

Now if only AMD would join up with Havok and give us OpenCL accelerated physics.
