Experiences with non-techies

My school's god awful blocking system has categorized this page as offensive ant tasteless. It must mean that the people who made it are shit w/ tech and very insecure.

Speaking of blocking systems, our school has recently unblocked Wikipedia (they had originally blocked it before summer, with rumours circulating that it was because of someone either accessing an inappropriate page or editing the school's page and putting inappropriate stuff on there - there's also the possibility that it had been done by someone else as a prank and they hadn't got round to turning it off or that they didn't want us doing copy-paste for work) after it was added to the blacklist. Before they had originally blocked it I had tried to get on Jeff Buckley's (or was it Moby's? one of the two) page to look something up about Grace (one of the set works for GCSE, what an absolute tune) and it came up blocked. The reasoning was "blocked for pornography".

Sorry? What? A wikipedia page of an artist who we study in music was blocked by the automatic filter because it apparently contained porn? I somehow don't think so.

The day I find a school that cares for and about what computer they get, but also babies them by cleaning them every so many days will be the day I applaud a school...

mines a perfect match bar the cleaning, but A. the ac filters the air so well that there is very little dust in the air. B. this is scotland and it is always cold/raining so people come in with wet coats that trap dust and have layers that stop as much skin cells (yes, that is what dust is made of) escaping in to the air C. they actually clean them.

there is never more than a couple of hours where there is a broken computer sitting around. it is either fixed or replaced within the day from the stock of spare machines.

I wasn't talking to him, he was talking to another person and he sit's a few tables away from me in class so asking him without being caught would have been difficult. I don't think he even knows what a proxy does, my class' logic is "If it sounds computer-y and it's English then it must be right."

You should see my school! Every PC is immaculate. Even the old ones (same thing that was mentioned a few pages back with C2Ds) are spotless, not a spec of dust!

Not really a non-techie story, but a little something else:

So in the past few days there has been at least one occurance per day that when connected to either of our school's WiFis, when going somewhere on the internet while using a laptop, it for some reason redirects to a site with a CS: GO screenshot of some StatTrak knife, and soon after redirects to a website about hinduism (in Finnish). This has happened to me, and some few other sophomore students. I tried asking our IT responsible teacher about it, apparently some student / pupil (our high school and middle school share the same building) has done that with an android app, which he won't tell me for obvious reasons... (Although all it would need is Google and a few brain cells) He still hasn't been caught, though.

So... Some script kiddie is just trolling our school. Doesn't happen often, though. Maybe once or twice per day. Still something that hasn't happened here before.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

The SSD's that Apple uses are PCI based. So it does use expansion slots.

Then again, Visual Novels (some of the most basic and expansive story driven games) only run as fast as you tell them to...

skin cells (yes, that is what dust is made of)

Common fallacy I am afraid. University of Ohio (by accident) actually found the components of Dust particles, only 63% was of organic origin .

Note this is not necessarily skin just organic (animal hair, insect parts etc).

the rest was quartz, soil, construction dust, etc.

something I would also like to point out, the amount of each item can vary depending on the humidity etc, so what is in dust in Ohio could be different to what the dust contains in Scotland.
