Experiences with non-techies

Was recently asked this question:
"Could you put a new CPU into my CPU so my CPU is a better CPU than my last CPU?"

Blink.......blink.........

Say that again?!

It's easy. Remove the IHS, scrape off the old die, glue the new die on. Or just buy the cores individually and glue them to the top of the old package. That's what universal chiplet interconnects will be right?

the only thing that i can think of is that theyre talking about upgrading the cpu. But given its a non-techie, it could possibly be what @Mel0nMan was talking about

My mom has used iPhones for over a decade and also computers for more than that. She uses it almost every day yet has to ask how to minimize or do basic features. That computer is "protected" by McAffee and  probably is riddled with malware/viruses.

Meanwhile my Mom who also has used an iPhone for over 10 years now still doesn't know how to download and open a simple pdf. The Company which she works for moved from sending out their Paychecks via Mail to sending them via E-Mail so of course I had to show her how to properly download that. Admittedly Apple's default E-Mail and File system apps are so basic in Design that they lack simple functions so she's not completely to blame here. When she went into the Files App tho there were already like 40 Versions of the same Paycheck so she technically figured out how to download it but didn't know where to find it lol. Funny thing is whenever I show her something on her iPhone I wanna make her do all the navigation and stuff but I have to specifically point on the Screen and say out loud what she needs to press.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

They email your paychecks? Or is it the pay stub? Because if it was pay checks thats kinda sketchy.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Well technically they E-Mail her a Link to Postfinances Websites (Postfinance being a Bank and part of the Swiss Post) where she has to login with her Credentials and then downloads the pdf from there. Also of course she's using the same Password everywhere so yay on that.

Still sketch if your printing the check and then depositing it. Here in the US pay checks and other major checks have security features to ensure they are not fraudulent. So you cant just print one out. Though I just get my direct deposited. My employer uses Paycom, we can request time off, look at our pay stubs and get out tax documents and such.

Well yeah they always transfer the amount directly to the Bank account, it's the run down of how much you're taxes are and how much you're receiving in the end which I'm talking about.

Actual cheques haven't been a thing anymore for more than 2 decades here.

I use a vertical mouse at work.  I also see elderly people face to face.  They regularly comment on the mouse, and are thenbuying vertical mice for themselves, then telling me how amazing they (the mice) are, while simultaneously refusing to use any of the online services we work with.  As such I have no idea what they are using the mice for, but I'm glad they are happy with them.

I asked my dad, who's had carpal tunnel surgery in both wrists and spinal stenosis, if he's heard of vertical mice. He had not! I suggested he look into them since it may make using his PC more comfortable. I didn't know about them either, thank you!

I don't understand people who voluntarily sit under the bright Sun using their Device wether it's a Smartphone, Tablet or Notebook and then complain that the Screen is too dim. Like a) just go under a Shadow or create a Shadow when you wanna use your Device outside during a sunny day or b) you bought the freaking thing so you should know what the Display is capable of. Do these people even know that places like YouTube exist where you can watch reviews and exactly find out how the Display performs under the Sun ? But of course they don't and blame you or the Manufacturer in the end for their not so Premium User Experience.

Or people who just leave their devices lying around outside and then are surprised when they A, overheat, B, get wet, C, battery expands from heat

If you think it's just IT, go on Youtube and search for "Customer States".  IT guys may be able to tell you about the stupid, but car guys can actually record it for posterity.

Don't watch too much though, or you'll want to yeet yourself out a window, just so you don't have to share the world with these oxygen thieves.

I work in the mobile phone industry (T-Mobile retail sales).

It happens every day.

I've had people tell me their phones were hacked. Every day I have people asking me how to do simple things (like a lady today asked me to delete all of her photos on her phone).

Once, I had someone ask if we could delete porn since he's going to therapy for an addiction. We asked if he meant on his phone, and no, he said the entire internet.

Damn near every day it's people forgetting their passwords for pretty much everything

my uncle has a small laptop with touch screen. He's screen flickers and programs open and close and it sometimes opens links and click on videos by itself while on youtube. Its like he has someone else controlling the computer. Its just dust, dirt, ash and tobacco all over the screen and keyboard. I have removed the hackers with a cloth and some washing spray... 3 times now and they keep coming back. (he doesnt seem to understand that the dirt causes it)

Did the Job Boss, I installed the Network Switch:

r/techsupportgore - Went to sort out something from my Job and found this lovely Netgear installation using one of our FP cables as a mount
