Wasn't everyone freaking out about Titan Fall being 50 GB?

Let's see how people react to Star Citizen being 100 GB...

But Titanfall was just LAZY ASS DEVS.

Seriously, Crysis 1, Warhead, 2, and 3 are all less than 10Gb each and all look way better.

35GB of audio. Fucking audio.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

So no one in australia is getting this game lmao.

They could just buy the physical copy.

This is exactly why we need Blu-Ray on PC because having to install 14 DVD's is ridiculous.

No surprise.  It's got a few years of development still, and multiple games have passed the 50GB threshold right now (and more will this year).  That, and it might be the largest, most detailed game ever made, but that remains to be seen.

If it does pan out, I'm glad I invested in the 500GB SSD.

Here's hoping it's easy to copy the install files to a second or third machine.

Also, I really hope they're going to be using bittorrent or something to push downloads. For cost, and so servers don't get completely slammed on patch-day.

They're using google servers so they should be stable even under heavy load.

I've heard that the cost of distributing a game on a disk is impractically high for an indie game company, but what if the game is this big? Does it become more efficient to stamp some dual layer BDs and send them around the world? I suspect not, but I'm not sure.

I take it this download will be at least partly peer-to-peer, so that the distributor's servers don't have to serve up 100GB per player.

Let me see.... 70GB/month for internet (10Mbps down/1mbps up), 60GB SSD, 1TB HDD with less than 80GB free, 100GB 2.5" drive filled with modded skyrim, 320GB 2.5" filled with steam and origin games. F***.

16G about 2 or 3 hours on a 15Mb/s connection.  Just leave it updating while at work.   I have a few friends  interested so we are going to see if we can download it once and then copy it to everyone elses pc.

No, I've seen some BS in my days, but just no. SC does not actually need to be this enormous! Uncompressed audio, uncompressed textures, very heavy data structure/organization. I showed this to my HPC and Heterogeneous computing professor and he practically had an aneurysm laughing. What a joke... Pushing for awesome is one thing, but elegance is necessary. Lightweight design is necessary!
